Yikes, 8ball--I hope that gets dealt with quickly.

My stomach is dead. Just dead. It had been relatively good for a month or so and then has been terrible all this week. I'd let myself forget how crushing chronic pain is.

I was having such a good day and then just, everything that's happened in the past few weeks came crashing down on me in a second, from a few things building up during the day: I spoke to my mother and she sounded partially catatonic, like a drug addict trying to reason through a fog, I can't do anything else to help her, it's killing me, and I haven't heard from a friend of mine who, last time I spoke to her, was bad enough that she was being considered to be put on 24hr suicide watch so that's been weighing heavily, and then it hit when I was trying to find my keys and I pulled the memorial card from last week (it has pictures, name, date of birth, date of death etc on it) and I just like, it took me a half second to realize why I even had a picture of him with me.
god. I've cried more in the past month than I have in probably my whole life (though I should qualify that by saying I am not someone who cries a lot, so it is less of an accomplishment)
I just, I feel pretty emotionally unhinged a lot of the time right now and I don't want to keep bringing down all the people around me, but it's still sometimes hard to be as "normal" as I usually am.


I'm pretty sure this year has broken my heart.

My worst thing is small but ugh. Yesterday, my husband was telling me he was getting hungry so I prepped dinner. It took me 15 minutes or so to prep our dinner, feed the dogs and cats. I asked him if he was ready to eat but he was playing his video game (which he had been doing for a few hours) and told me to give him 10 minutes. 30 minutes after that, he said just a few more minutes. 40 minutes after that, he was ready. I didn't feel like eating any more and ugh. He told me he was sorry and didn't realize his 10 minutes had turned into 70. I hate taking second place to a video game.

My worst thing was that my train to Chicago was 3 1/2 hours late and ate up my entire morning, until my mom called to tell me that my grandpa died about 2 hours ago. He's been unwell for a while and has really only been fighting because his family has been making him, so it wasn't really that much of a surprise. But apparently after this last hospital stay, he just couldn't be bothered anymore. He told someone (my uncle?) that he was ready and he just gave up. On the positive side, I might actually be able to go to the funeral (depending on what day it is, but it's the week after Thanksgiving).

My husband's best friend was admitted for bleeding and it turns out he has colon cancer. Everyone in his family has died from cancer and he is terrified.

After 3 days of constant Fred, we're back to his crappy, crappy work schedule: 5pm-1am. Since I got this new job (and while I was doing the job before I got the offer), I've been working earlier and earlier. It's getting so hard to stay up to see him when he gets home, but if I don't, I literally will not see him awake at all. Other than the last few days, I haven't gotten more than 4-6 hours of sleep a night in the last 2 months. Thankfully, he has Thanksgiving off, and we're planning on hanging out with some good friends. Still. Sucks.

My $100 heating pad just stopped working. Of course, it's just out of warranty.

I need it at bed time. crepe. Also, can't afford to replace it for a few weeks. Its a special large size, weighted moist heat pad that really, really helps--was recommended by my pts. It has a 20 minute cycle that ramps up to very hot that targets my pain areas and then ramps back down. It's pretty miraculous.

Scrolling back, I see my worst thing is nothing compared.

Tofulish, I hope they've caught his cancer early enough for a positive prognosis.

I have three essays on my plate at once and I'm staring to get panicky about being able to finish them all. The end of the semester is always so damn terrible!

It's only 7 am but I'm pretty sure my worst thing is going to be waking/trying to wake from a nightmare while experiencing sleep paralysis, and my husband wasn't here for me to hug because he had left early for work. Ugh. I don't usually have nightmares or sleep paralysis so I am just hoping this doesn't become a regular occurance.

It's hard not to, but every worst thing is a worst thing for each person, so I wouldn't put your worst thing down just because others' are perhaps bigger in scope?

Apologies if I'm somehow offending someone with my poor wording at the moment.

My worst thing: Got all ready for work this morning went outside and someone had stolen my rear bike wheel. I need my bike to be bikeable on wednesday as it's really the only way I can get out to my therapy appointment that evening. Also, I get nervous about not exercising, especially since it helps with my anxiety.

My heart goes out to you, Boober and Rachell.

I have a job interview today for a position that's not what I went to school for. I'm nervous about it, I read negative reviews on Glassdoor, and it's far and I have to drive, all of which makes me more nervous. I need a job now, so I really, really want it, but I also feel really sad about giving up on dreams.

This weekend was terrible, and it like all crashed down on my this morning

-Mp3 player broke
-Cell phone got stolen, drama with insurance, the forker is USING the phone, keeps hacking it even though I tried to shut it off.
-Getting audited by the IRS
-my pharmacy gave me the wrong RX and my cramps are terrible.

and then this morning the job interview I had scheduled on Wendsday was cancelled.

Jebus. Sorry to have a pity party, but life is not looking so great right now for chicki. Figure all this will cost me somewhere in the $2000 range to get it all fixed. So much for getting married next year.

I'm so sorry, everyone.

My worst thing is that T. found out today, first day back from vacation, that the business he works for is closing. It's a retail outdoors/camping outfitters store that is an institution in the city we live in, it's been open for 70+ years in the same spot downtown. He will get to keep a job doing web stuff for the uniforms divisions which is the only division staying open, but all of his friends are losing their jobs, and T. loves them a lot and also loved the job he had, which will now be very different. We feel lucky he still has a job for now, but it still sucks.

Don't think about it like giving up on dreams! That's what I did at first with my current job, and I made myself very sad about it, but then I found ways to proactively widen my job description to include stuff I studied, and I am really quite happy with it now. I don't know the details of the situation, but employers love it when you explain how your skill set/education, while not directly related to the job, will help you excel in a myriad of ways. Good luck!

They're starting my Dad's chemo, it'll take right through to the spring to complete. I don't know how they're going to cope with all the winter infections that float about, with my brother's working from home and one of them having a gaggle of disease carrying kids, the traffic in and out of the house is heavy enough. It'll mess with his diabetes so he has to go onto insulin. His cancer specialist also confirmed his terminal status, telling him they will keep him alive as long as possible. I knew it was coming, and he's a difficult man to be related to, but yeah, sucky times ahead.

Thankfully my lovely fella will be along this evening with arms full of hugs.

Today is the fourth anniversary of my mother's death of breast cancer and I miss her. I remember going through the terminal stages of her life, like it was yesterday. I drove by her nursing home over the weekend, and just lost it.

Last night I called Trader Joe's to see if they had the soy creamer in stock. They said they did, so I went after work, with my frozen shoulder and tennis elbow making my left arm unusable. But I was going to carry home a few! It was that important! So I got there...no soy creamer.

Left the store, since the line was weaving up and down the aisles and I was not going to buy anything else if I could not have my creamer, and went to the stairs going underground to the subway. Lots of people going down, the stairs are kind of dark. I missed a step and went down on my big toe, smacked the backpack of the woman in front of me hard with my bad arm, almost sending her down the stairs...I apologized of course, but I was in so much pain that I felt nauseated and cold sweat was dripping down. I managed to keep it together and not pass out!

I did not sleep though...my big toe was throbbing and my arm was shooting pain. And still no creamer. Will try again today.
