I'm torn - seeing my cousin that I've seen twice in ten years OR making a tasty sweet potato-lentil stew for leftovers so I have healthy and filling lunches this week?

My first jam making attempt! We went for strawberry balsamic and it's processing in the canner right now. I tasted some that I scraped off of the spoon and it's delicious! I can't really taste the balsamic, so it must be a subtle background enhancer that makes the strawberries just taste more strawberry-y.

Listening to the recordings my BFF and I made last night while drunk of us singing. We were in tears laughing about it, in some of the recordings we forgot to stop for a while after the singing so we heard us talking, and in one of them you can hear Ginny snoring really loud while we're singing.

After listening to her breathing and reviewing a new set of x-rays the vet said my dog, Skye's, lungs had recovered from the pneumonia that almost took her three weeks ago! I'm so happy and relieved that I'm in tears.

My sister who doesn't usually like me and with whom I've always had a rather tumultuous relationship has started reaching out, after my years of trying. She sends me photos of her baby (who I'll be meeting after Christmas) and for the first time ever, after my response to her photos of a trip to England with her baby, she actually asked me stuff about myself in a really nice and civil manner.
This sounds minor, but it's been a long road with her.

anybody else as a kid read the book "Fortunately, Unfortunately"?
this is my night. I got 6 free liters of beer (yay!) i opened one and it apparently had come directly from the paint-shaking machine and blew up all over my kitchen. (boo!) i only lost about a can's worth (yay!) and spilled that can's worth all over the floor and had to clean it, but i did a shitty job so my house smells like a college bar (boo) the beer was kind of weird tasting (boo) but it was free (yay!) and a liter is enough to make me ready for bed (yay)
i think overall it was a positive. and there are 5 more liters left for tomorrow. and the next day. and the next day. and....

Yesterday was my 6th wedding anniversary. I went to the gym, my husband had called home (vs my cell) and left a message (or non-message). Anyway, I called him back when I got home, he said he was 'near work'. He asked about dinner, I suggested falafel. Apparently 'near work' meant Trader Joe's. He bought me flowers and soy creamy ice cream sandwiches from Trader Joe's. I had bought him a bottle of his favorite hot sauce from the store. Then we ate falafels and watched a movie.

That sounds so nice!
We had a toddler dance party at a local restaurant with falafel. They were so good - I've never had falafel with cardamon in them.

Standing in my 41st floor panorama windows, watching black storm clouds roll in from the west, darken the sky, lash the windows with rain and then roll off to the east. It's considerably lighter here than it was just eight minutes ago. I love this window.

....Well, probably not in Seattle.

Ha, that was a fast moving storm cell, but probably not THAT fast! I'm guessing those storm clouds are now backed up against the Cascades, dumping snow in the pass. Meanwhile it's now partly sunny bright blue skies outside my wonderful window.
