As usual, the response is almost as frustrating (but still a ways off from the significance of the deaths of the animals) as the events themselves. Between the director's denial of any personal responsibility and the legions of fans who wouldn't care if the entire cast was murdered in post-production as long as they got to watch the movie, people are jumping to the "well PETA is crazy so this must be fake/exaggerated/misunderstood" response.
