Hey there! Haven't posted in quite some time. There's a refer a friend free trial coming up for Guild Wars 2 and I have an invite left. My roommate (also vegan / PPK lurker) also has all 3 of his invites left if anyone's interested. I'll have him post in this thread as well. Feel free to PM either of us and we'll update you all when we're out of invites. Inviting requires an e-mail address. Thanks!

Surprise! We (allegedly) know the dates of the Thanksgiving and winter sales ahead of time!

http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/20/36718 ... edly-dated

Nov 21 - 27 for Thanksgiving, and Dec 20 - Jan 4 for winter! I hope your bank account is prepared!

I can comfortably say there is nothing I can imagine buying during either sale, which isn't to say I won't end up buying something anyway.

I know. I feel like I pretty much own everything that I could want, with some small exceptions like DLC (Skyrim) and the games on my wishlist, which are mostly games I own in some other form. At this point, I'm more excited to see the sale meta-game than the sale itself.

I will be looking for some small games that look cool but that I don't want to buy for full price, or for things I'd missed. I'll buy a lot of games at 2 bucks a pop...

Limbo is a flash sale at $2.49 (ends in 9 hours from now). I totally recommend. It is a puzzler type game. It is fun, frustrating and a bit artistic.

It looks like a ton of the indie games are on sale as well.

Damn. Spec Ops: The Line is 14.99. I told myself that was the price I would buy it at. I suck at this not buying things thing.

I'd assume that EVERYONE has this and if they didn't, they shouldn't admit to that.

Spec Ops: The Line is absolutely worth that price, but it may go lower. It's not a daily yet.

The Walking Dead for $12.49 is totally worth it if you like adventure games, The Walking Dead, or sadness. That is a doozy of a series.

And I wish I could give a better endorsement for Darksiders 2, because it's pretty fun, but it's not as good as the original Darksiders.

New deals! MBM and I were looking at them and she said that everyone who wants Portal 2 already has it. I tried to prove her wrong by setting who has it on their wishlist. The answer is no one. 28 of my friends own Portal 2 and no one has it on their wishlist, so I guess she's right.

I've heard plenty of good things about Sleepy Dogs.

I bought the XCOM game from yesterday's deals... I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Do you know what I can not-recommend? Inversion. It's $9.99 right now on flash sale. It's not very good. It is Gears of War, with some weird gravity tricks. That might sound kind of cool, but it's poorly executed. If you ever played TimeShift, which was also disappointing, this was made by the same developer. I don't often tell people not to play a game, but don't play Inversion.

Yeah, I read a couple of reviews that said basically that, so thanks for the reminder...

I am vaguely tempted by Max Payne 3, but, well, not very.

I wish Far Cry 3 was on sale, but you know, it's new and stuff. It got a very nice writeup from RPS:

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/11 ... le-player/

Rock of Ages is $2.39, which is a lot of fun for quite cheap.

Also, Prototype 2 for $19.99 isn't a very good deal when compared to the pack of Prototype 1, Prototype 2, and the Prototype 2 DLC for $9.99 that Amazon was selling last week, which were all Steam redeemable. I don't know if that deal is going to come back but, considering that Prototype 2 is pretty much just Prototype 1 with a different protagonist that plays pretty much the same way the Prototype 1 protagonist plays, that one is totally a pass.

I'm with you on Max Payne 3. I absolutely loved Max Payne 2. It is a fantastic game. I have not been impressed by anything I've read about Max Payne 3. I'm not sure I've even read anything about it that indicated it was any better than a mediocre third-person shooter.

That reminds me! Amazon is selling a bunch of PC games really cheap, and a lot of them are Steam redeemable!!!

Binary Domain for $8.99!!!!
Batmen for $9.99!
Dark Souls for $14.99!
Bioshocks for $9.99!

Those are just the deals I'm interested in, there are a bunch more here.

FARMING SIMULATOR 2013! For only $14.99? Buy now! Ugh.

Does FS13 have coop or competitive multiplayer? How's the campaign?

It has competitive multiplayer!

Also, Train Simulator 2013 is on sale, with a nice DLC pack.

(I like TS2013, but it's kind of linear.)

Trine 3 pack is $8.74. I don't have the DLC which is $3.99 by itself, I might buy it.

So uh I spent about six hours yesterday playing Farming Simulator 2013. Much of that was with the boy watching and telling me which tractor to drive, which was pretty fun. Then after he went to sleep I started a new game and I harvested me some grain yo. And sold it. FOR A PROFIT.

I will probably sell a bunch of older tractors and buy a front-end loader today so I can take up some lucrative fetch missions.

If you don't already own Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I don't know if I can help you. But it's only $4.99 for the 100000th time. More than one person has compared it favorably to a western made Metal Gear Solid. Does that tempt you?

Also, Hotline Miami!!!!!!! Seriously, it's $4.99. Buy it to listen to the soundtrack.

And if somehow you don't have Mass Effect 2, buy it.
