Maybe I will try suggesting that we all donate to a charity that they think the other person would like and get maybe a small gift? it'd be way less stressful for everyone, i think. holiday shopping stresses me out!

that's a good idea. I bet people would be ok with that! I could just say that I really don't need anything this year, but if anyone wanted to get me something maybe they could donate to something that helps animals. That doesn't sound too bad.

Or you could suggest that they donate to any project through Kiva and surprise you with it! Microloans can make a huge difference in someone's life and they could actually pick different projects that spoke to them. Maybe $10 for water improvement or $20 for a sewing machine :)

I asked my mom what she wanted for xmas and she said "One of those things that you can use to sit up in bed... you know, the pillow things with the armrests that you can use to prop yourself up when you're sick?" and I know exactly what she's talking about, but I don't have any idea what it's called either. Is there a proper name for those so I can try to find one?

I was just talking about these today!

I did some quick Googling, and it looks like they're called "bed rest pillows." I see them showing up at Target and Sears from about $20-$25, as well as at a number of other retailers, but I didn't check those prices.

I didn't realize how affordable these are! I might follow through with my joking threat to buy one to keep at the bf's apartment so I can spend all day sitting in bed grading in comfort, ha.

I Googled "pillows with arms", which seemed to do the trick, whereas "husbands" got me a sitcom, the history of heterosexuality, and some videos that I am not going to watch.

In a well-meaning but possibly misplaced display of generosity, I have been given a carrier bag full of enormous quinces. The smell of them slightly turns my stomach (I don't like the smell of pear or apple skins either, which I'm aware is quite a specific thing to have an aversion to), but I'm sure they're very nice cooked. What do I do with them?

I think I have actually cried before because my printer was refusing to work when I really needed something printed and was already ten minutes late for class. Glad it's working again!

I took a calculus based statistics course 10 years after my last calculus course. I relearned calculus in that semester. Now it has been 2 years and I've forgot all I relearned.
