Aside from straight up donations, I'd love to know about some gifts I can buy for people that help animals at the same time.
My favorite is Teal Cat Project, but I already gave those to my cat loving friends last year. So what other gifts can I give in which the money or portion of the proceeds go to help animals?

For The Animals raises funds through their jewelry sales and their stuff is so pretty. Her etsy store isn't open atm, but maybe contact her through FB http://www.facebook.com/fortheAnimalssanctuary or ask esme and see? Here are some of her older pieces - she does lovely enamel and metal. http://www.etsy.com/shop/fortheanimalsjewelry

A lot of us on the vegan etsy team donate a portion of sales to different animal sanctuaries and causes. If you're looking for anything specific let me know and I can maybe point you to a good shop. Woodstock farm animal sanctuary has a gift shop online and I think a lot of sanctuaries do that.

Its definitely a good way to support animal charities, and their stuff is delicious, so I'm looking forward to being able to buy their stuff again soon.

Ooh, yeah, also, just get everybody the Equal Exchange cocoa because that is the best. Then, tell them that they have to only bake vegan stuff with it or you will shiitake on their porch.

Thanks, guys! These are super good ideas! I also just remembered that there are going to be three Vegan Shop Ups in December ( http://veganshopup.wordpress.com/) The money might not go to animals, but it's all vegan and local, so that's something, too. I just want to make sure I don't feel bad about all the money I've spent on xmas stuff this year since money is tight.

I doubt this would be much help to people outside of Canada, but a growing rescue organization I've done volunteering for does online auctions every so often and has one going right now. There's a number of items and ends soon! And Helping Homeless Pets is a great group that spreads the money out to a number of smaller, private rescues that deal in a variety of species. http://www.mycausemyauction.com/Items.aspx?a=hhp123The website can be tricky for some people, but the director of HHP, Rob, is awesome and is always happy to help people. Follow them on Facebook too!
