Oh shiitake. I'm an idiot. It's Martin Luther, isn't it?

I'm going to repost mine just so this thread doesn't get too confusing.

This woman was a German Marxist leader. She was murdered during the German revolution of 1919.

Technically, I guess this woman was Polish. But she was a leader of the Communist Party of Germany. She was captured by government troops, shot in the head and her body was dumped in a canal.

If nobody guesses it in a few hours, as always, feel free to reboot.

I couldn't guess so I looked her up - Rosa Luxemburg.

This lady was one of the reasons I can vote.

Yup!

EDIT: Also, if you want to make it so the identify of your dead person isn't revealed in a URL when someone quotes your image, upload photos through a free image hosting site like this: http://www.postimage.org/

It's been over 8 hours, so I hope it's ok that I'm throwing in a new one. I'm still curious who 8ball's last one was.

Sixteenth century German artist who ended up being the court painter for the King of England.

Jacob Huysmans?

Mine was Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the British suffragette movement.

I was going to guess Susan B. Anthony and then I thought "wait... I think 8ball's in the UK" and I didn't know any British suffragettes.

It's not Jacob Huysmans. I'll be more specific. He was the court painter for Henry VIII.

Reboot.

I feel like the smartest thing to do to rehabilitate this thread would be to post a couple of really easy ones to get us back on our feet. But I really love this guy and can't resist. And hopefully some of you know him.

This dead person is perhaps the most well known socialist in US history. He was a leader in the Pullman Strike and a founding member of the revolutionary Industrial Workers of the World. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his opposition to World War I. At his sentencing hearing he told the judge, in his best remembered quote, "Your Honor, years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free." He ran for president of the United States from his cell and received just under a million write-in votes.

No worries! I have one.

This British animal liberationist was sentenced to 18 years in prison for firebombing leather and fur stores. He died in jail in 2001 while on hunger strike.

Apparently I killed the thread too. Mine was Barry Horne. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Horne

I think this game is too hard.
