I hate angsty Deb. Whenever she flips out I can see Dexter just recoiling and I totally feel the same way. I don't see that Dex would really have a relationship with someone so unstable. He has gone for women who don't seem needy and Deb is a giant sucking vortex of needy control freak.
Quinn. Blah.

This. Early in the series I didn't mind Deb, but now every time she's on the screen she's freaking out about something. Ugh.

Well yea... but she just found out her brother is a SERIAL KILLER soooo.... I feel like her freaking out about something in every scene has been going on for a few seasons, but that's just me. :)

Yeah, I remember when she was a hilarious bad-ass who cursed a lot and had a soft side under her hard exterior. Now she's a neurotic control freak who curses a lot and has a gross incesty side under her soft, quivering freaking out exterior. I miss the Deb that was a really good police officer who had to keep proving herself in the face of LaGuerta and others keeping her in Vice because she seemed so young, pretty and unstable. I wish Isaak had gone to the end. He was an epic Big Bad. Best ever. Oh and remember when Quinn was hot? As opposed to now, when he is so Walken-esque?: I really hope he's okay.

I just feel like I am being hit over the head with a sobbing, snotty, angsty Deb hammer. I wish the writers had had a lighter touch - had her suspect Dexter without seeing him. She's a good police officer and I would like to see more of that side of her character.
This season could be completely redeemed for me if Dex is playing Hannah, and sets her up as the BHB. The whole "I've only been scared 2x in my life" stuff was so insulting to Rita and Harrison.
Either that, or every officer on the force discovers that they are willing to do extrajudicial executions to avoid the annoyance of a trial and Miami turns into the cleanest city ever, as they murder all the criminals.

How would that work though? LaGuerta is pretty sure that it's someone from Miami Metro (for reasons that I'm sure that I've forgotten) - how would Hannah fit in? I think there will be some resolution to the Hannah storyline this season, but I wouldn't put my money on her going down as BHB.
Anyone else think the whole arson murderer thing is kind of coming out of nowhere, especially with the end of the season so close? I hope it gets tied into everything else in some awesome way.

No, I agree that Hannah getting fingered as the BHB would be inconsistent with everything so far in the season, but (1) it would still make me happy to see Dex turn back from lapdog to cold-blooded killer and (2) since when have the writers been stopped by inconsistency?
I don't even hate Hannah and Dex together. I would be fine having them go into the sunset together with their sharpened knives and their poisonous plants, raising murderous young 'uns at the end of the season. But I do miss my vicious murdermachine.

Oh and remember when Quinn was hot? I really hope he's okay. I LOVE Ray Stevenson, I wish Isaak had gone to the end too. I did think it was sort of sweet that Dexter took him to Victor. I noticed that Quinn has become more gaunt as time has gone on.

Quinn. Blah. Haha, all his love interests have seemed pretty needy and unstable to me! She didn't start out that way, but towards the end I found Rita pretty whiny and clingy. Lumen depended on Dexter a lot as well and Lila was obsessed with him. I think Hannah is the only romantic interest that seems consistent with his personality. But I admit I have a strange allegiance to Deb. She's been through a lot of crepe!

I think it's for the next season, I dunno.

I think its too obviously the arson investigator. 3 more episodes should be enough to have him end up on the table - he can't really last longer given that Dexter already knows its him.
But he is a member of Miami PD, so maybe Dexter will frame him as the BHB and serve him up flambeed to LaGuerta, because he fits her theory. Honestly, I don't really see LaG's investigation of the BHB as being in character for her - she was always very willing to let things go for expediency, but then consistency hasn't been a strong point of the writers either....

Right, it's so obvious that I thought it couldn't be him. I guess I forgot what show we're watching.

I mean the season had been so good thus far and I was like "Really, writers, you insult our intelligence once again?!?" I just try to pretend the arson wasn't happening as the rest of the episode was really good. And LaGuerta suspects someone from Miami Metro because Lundy suspected that.

This episode was nuts. I get so anxious watching LaGuerta getting so close to the truth about Dexter. Eek!
Watching Dexter realize that he is ultimately responsible for his kills was really interesting. It makes me so nervous, though, when someone sees his face and he decides not to kill them. It's interesting that after he came to terms with being responsible for his kills he abandoned the kill that followed the code and instead went after Hannah's dad. Perhaps this will allow him to kill the people who try to take him down-- namely LaGuerta and the retired guy whose name I can't remember.

I know! When he said that I was all "mother hubbard better mention Rita" but no. I guess having his son almost murdered at every turn isn't as scary as not having the serial killer girlfriend around. And I like Hannah, but I'm positive at some point she's going to try to off Dexter.

And it's weird how much Hannah looks like Lumen.

Finally caught up with Dexter and it's safe to come in here now :D
Deb is whiny, and it's annoying. BUT the woman almost married the ice truck killer, had at least 2 love interests killed, then discovers the only stable person she has in her life is the bay harbor butcher. Plus add to that the stress of a new job with insane responsibilities where everything she does is in the public eye. I mean come on, all that has got to make a person a little neurotic!
I think the whole arsonist plot line was to set it up so we see Dexter letting go of his code so he can kill LaGuerta without everyone going what the fizzle?!
Also, I think about things way too much and the fact that he happens to meet another serial killer every season is just so lame to me.
And another thing, haha, Rita was pretty forking needy in the beginning.

At least the arsonist wasn't the arson specialist.

Maybe Hannah will kill LaGuerta.
I just see them killing people for each other.
