I guess this is the reverse of what I feel like when people think an accent is "Texan" in a movie. Haha.

Someday I might let this go, but for comparison sake, these people were born and raised in NJ: Meryl Streep, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Annie Hathaway. I don't know if most of them tried to change their accents or anything, but can attest that Annie Hathaway sounds exactly the same on film and IRL from before she was famous, and the same as everybody else from around here.
Some of my relatives have more pronounced accents and the big thing they do that is different from middle-of-country is a funny "au" sound, like in the word "sauce." I can't even really explain it, it sounds kind of like suhwace.

My husband has a real NJ accent and does that too. Its funny because he always asks for "cuhawfee "

Yes - that! But all the other sounds - nobody'd guess that Mr. T is "Jersey."

He has never lived outside our town. Seriously, not even moved elsewhere in NJ. Jersey through and through.
And now NJ is the place I've lived longest too (it used to be Vienna). Sigh

I can't even really explain it, it sounds kind of like suhwace. I moved to the New York/new jersey region after living various places in the US. It was difficult for me to get over the shock of the accents my first few weeks here. Honestly, I can't tell the difference from NJ and NY. I know that's probably not a popular opinion, but its my experience! Everyone has an accent; it's all your perspective.

I already put it in my calendar for next Halloween that I am being Tinkerbell Tailor Soldier Spy. I was crying at that. I love it so much. Set for next year! I really like this show.

Hahaha, I loved her warrior name. To be honest, I think this show is great. I feel like it totally is just sending up all those usual romantic comedy/dating and body hate stereotypes. Not to mention how awesome it is that there is a show with a South Asian female lead who isn't part of some forced marriage or a culture clash or whatever other ridiculous storylines usually accompany South Asian characters on tv.

Omg how much did you guys cringe when he put her jeans on? I was seriously dying inside. Hahah. That was so perfect, it said so much so simply and so humorously. But yeah, I would die.

What a great episode. I was dying over the gay friend and Mindy's interactions with the kids. That is EXACTLY what it feels like to me to be an adult around kids. I wish Mindy were my gynecologist.

Bean bag chair was the best! And Ben! It was all so good. And the boyfriend is actually growing on me, though his days are numbered.

I mean, I completely love when women are allowed to do such broad physical comedy like that. It's such a damn rarity. But I totally adore the way Mindy can say everything with just one look. She's really good.
