Thank you, everyone. This is why I love the PPK.
The shock is wearing off a bit. I'm still waiting to hear when the funeral is, so I can find a way to go.
My mom's side always has a big Christmas Eve dinner/party. I'm trying to find a way to get home for it this year, especially if I can't make the funeral. I've only made it to one in the last five years.

Hugs to everyone, especially kara kara. How awful. The other day, when we finished a deep clean of the kitchen (is moving fridge, washing machine, stove to scrub, getting the top of the fridge, etc.) We thought we saw a mouse scurry under the fridge, but we had seen zero signs of house mice before that (although we live in a drafty old duplex and it is starting to get cold.) Today I discovered we have , in a very sad way, which I will spoiler, because it is upsetting animal stuff. I found the little guy dead in the washer, while taking a load of clean clothes out. He must have hitched a ride in the dirty laundry. I can't imaging how scared/panicked/in pain he must have been. I feel just awful and sad.

Thanks again for all the love, everyone.
I mentioned this in another thread, but I found out I can go home both for the funeral on Monday, and for Christmas. Work is being really, really awesome about everything. I might even get my train ticket reimbursed through them, which I was not expecting at all.
I'm doing okay. The shock is wearing off, and I'm coping a lot better than I had been. There are still moments where I stop and get lost for a bit, but it's been easier to get out of them. All my energy is spent keeping my shiitake together, so the several difficult customers were much harder to handle today. But I just went on Facebook without bawling for the first time in 48 hours, so that's a step. Any tears I've shed today have been because of the kindness of everyone around me.

Molly was injured this morning. Bleeding a little, and stressed, but she seems ok. She is snuggling under my chin and dozing right now.
My mom was right there when it happened, and we still aren't sure how she got injured.

She is wheezing a bit. Keeping her snug in travel cage on a heating pan. She is pissed, but at least it's keeping her quiet and warm.
I'm worried though I know she will be ok. I can't afford to take her to the vet today since only choice is the near useless gouging emergency vet an hour away. They would clean and give antibiotics though. I can't take her to regular vet until Tuesday, so just keeping an eye on here.
Just don't know how or what happened. This means no contact with the macaw at all, so Molly is going to be in a cage all day. This is just awful.
