can't wait to see pics!! I love handmade tattoos.
When we first moved into this house and it was muddy, dumpy and moldy i threw some sunflower seeds in the mud just hoping against hope they'd do something. They bloomed, and were beautiful, and lifted my mood a few weeks ago. Today the sunflowers are covered with little birds, all happily cheeping and stealing seeds. The cockatiel has his own personal sunflower stash for a long time (he doesn't eat them, but he sure loves to rip the heads apart). Natural bird feeder, all around!!!

Someone leaned out of a car window today to tell me I LIKE YOUR SNOOD!
Technically what I was wearing on my head was not a snood but a repurposed cowl (to keep my damn ears from freezing off) but it made my day anyhow.

I have all his pictures and contacts...names, addresses, phone numbers. They guy was stupid, and had been using my phone (the phone company screwed up and never turned the service off). Got a replacement, and with an app I have that uploads all contacts and pics to a cloud, I got all HIS pics and contacts. I have terrible luck. Really I do. I am so surprised that for once karma did not take a huge shiitake on me. Now I am going to sell my phone for exactly what I bought my replacement for...which is a very good price. I hope it makes someone happy.

Skype: first the call with my mentor, who translated an editor's terrible comments into English for me [and even talked me through some revisions!], and the follow-up call with my artist friend who made me laugh for 20 minutes straight, no joke.

So, for the past few months, my partner and I have been acting more like roommates than a couple in love. We'd get into arguments about chores and both end up with hurt feelings for one reason or another. Yesterday, I told him that we absolutely have to be kinder to one another.
This morning I decided that I would start, since he's in classes all day and I usually study from home anyway. I went and dropped off his shirts to be laundered and pressed at the dry cleaners for him (I suck at ironing), went and bought him some new comfy pajamas, a couple of new sweaters since he mentioned not having enough cold weather clothing, and some snacks I thought he'd like for his geology field trips. Tonight I'm hoping that when he comes home I'll also have a nice meal cooked for the both of us that we'll eat together at the dinner table and NOT at our computer desks.
So I guess the best thing about my day is the good, warm, fuzzy feeling that you get when you do nice things for someone to make them feel special. Hopefully it's appreciated. At least I'm trying!

I gave a presentation in one of my classes that I feel the least self-confident about. Presenting my ideas to my professor and all the other students in my class was nerve-wracking but the fact that I did it and it went well just gives me so much confidence about other areas of my life!

I was given a brand new mug that is the perfect shape, size, and color, and has a very cool handle, and the logo of a shop I love. Tea tastes at least twice as good out of it!

I get to go home for Christmas!
I mean, the circumstances surrounding why it's possible suck, but still. I miss my family.

I got really nice feedback on one of my essays, and I got a perfect score on it. Not super important, but it made me feel good about myself, which I need right now.

I've had purple hair for so long, that I've had people of just about every gender, ethnicity, age, and stage of intoxication yell out of car windows (or across city streets, or in the supermarket, or across the platform at a train station, or as I exit an elevator...) about my hair. ;-)

I think I'd be okay with people yelling compliments at me from their car windows as long as it was a genuine compliment ("Hey, I like your hair!") and not a creepy catcall ("Dayummm girllll, you so fiiinneee...") or something. :P
