I did indeed end up purchasing this dress! It fits and the cotton is a heavy sweater knit, so it will be warm through the winter. SCORE.

I love this so very much. It's from Victorian Maiden in Japan so is unlikely to fit my fluffy Western European frame and would also be super expensive to ship, so I'm going to make my own.

I'd be curious to know how making your own goes. Do you have a pattern in mind that you are going to modify?

I bought this in teal! I'm looking for some of those sweatery tights and haven't found ones that exist yet.

I bought this from Modcloth for New Years, so now I have to find somewhere to go. I'm always at the larger side of medium with modcloth, but I rarely wear a large, so hopefully I got the right size.

Awesome dress, creep!
(Too bad I've given up on Modcloth because I never know which size will fit me, and shipping and returns are way too expensive.)

My answer for tights or leggings is always American Apparel, because they always have sales online and I really, really like their hosiery. I would probably wear grey opaque tights and a black or grey cardigan, but I always go monotone to balance a bright piece of clothing (and I love opaque tights). I am probably not someone you necessarily want to take fashion advice from, though, but I am getting better! ETA: I have a thrifted dress much like this but with less of a collar and in bright blue. I love it! I usually just wear black opaque tights (it's pretty short, so opaque makes me feel more comfortable) and boots. And then I freeze, because I don't have a cardigan that looks good with it.

Yeah, you can totally get away with fun tights in that dress. Ack, I love the bark ones! I might have to buy them. And I always order large in tights because I'm pretty tall, and saggy crotch is the worst. What about something like these? http://shopruche.com/gothenburg-sweater-leggings.html I feel like the colours might match.

Aww, I wish I could find fun tights here! I was looking for warm, maybe knit-type tights and/or leggings in bright colours most of last Friday afternoon, and I would even have settled for something in purple or burgundy... but no luck. At all. Apparently, tights have to be black or grey right now. Boo.

Can't afford it...but oh I do covet it. Yeah, I find it hard to/don't typically spend so much on polyester dresses. Cotton? Yes. My opinion about polyester has been sullied by an experience in which I wore a dress TWICE and all of a sudden the fabric was disintegrating. The dress is beautiful, though! Also, re: posting images from Ruche. They do that annoying thing where you're constantly in pop-up-window zoom-in mode, but if you refresh the page and quickly right click, you should have an 'open image in new window' drop down option.

I bought this from modcloth for a xmas party. Help me decide what style of shoes/tights/tiny clutch/etc to wear with it?? Probably just basic ideas since I'll go try stuff on in person but I have no idea what style I should get. Kind of a fancyish party.

I would probably wear it with some sheer black stockings, and metallic or brightly colored wedges/heels. Or maybe a pair of booties. I think you have a lot options, but personally I would say go big with the shoes and then minimal with the jewelry since the collar is embellished.

I found this dress in cream the other day and it was the most adorable but they only had it in one size too small, so I went home and looked for it, and apparently it is RARELY SOLD IN THE U.S. and my heart is broken. Considering ordering and paying $30 in shipping. I am pathetic.
