I am a newly licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, which I love. Right now I'm working in an outpatient PT clinic part time. I am also a massage therapist and aesthetician. I have a small massage practice of my own, and a great seasonal/summer job as a massage therapist and aesthetician. So I work for the man X 2, but I also work for myself. ijustdiedinside wrote: i am a newly licensed registered dietitian who is unemployed. i have a feeling i won't find a job between now and christmas, so i'm looking, and sending in some resumes, but also i'm just really hoping the new year will bring me a job because i really need one :( That is awesome...congrats! Good luck finding gainful employment soon!

Also, I wasn't here for the last thread like this, so it's pretty fun and interesting to see what the PPK does for money.

Oh, and I'm also on disability from my full-time job. I don't want to post the name because they will find it, but some of you may recall where I worked. It has something to do with the recent picture I posted in the picture thread.
If you guess the name, please don't post it. I really do not want them to find this thread.

Well, I usually run a coffee shop (assistant manager), but right now I'm taking care of my two awesome boys. When my maternity benefits run out, we'll see what happens. I'm trying to start doing some TESOL training, so I can branch out a bit.

Congrats ijustdiedinside!
I am in a similar position. I am a newly licensed mental health counselor. I have a private practice gig in the works but it will take some time to get all my ppwk done w insurance companies so I wi be able to get reimbursed for my services. I hope to start building a client base in January... Until I have enough clients I will probably work part time for the man doing some ER psych evals and/or some counseling via a community mental health center outpatient program.

I sling cider, manage a tasting room, work in the gritty production of cider, do social media, host and work weddings and corporate events, do lots of paperwork and some promotional writing, and occasionally pick up dog poop and prune apple trees on our organic orchard. It isn't glamorous, and it is a shiitake tonne of work, but it is a small growing company with good intentions and a good (but small!) core staff, so I like it. The (hands-off) owner is crazy-rich though, so I'd still say I work for "the man".
I also do some freelance writing, but that has sadly taken backstage since I've started this job. I'm in a really weird position where we are growing SO much, but I don't have time to hire more people, so I just work work work. I know that other people across the world are much worse off than me in terms of work demands, and I am so so lucky to have a job I enjoy most of the time, but I am tired.

I work with (mostly) women who are leaving violent relationships and/or have experienced sexualized violence. I am hoping to be in grad school come September. If not, I hope to be out of the field because three years is long enough for me.

Produce person in our Co-op. I get to carry a knife, wooo. Also work for a business that bikes around, picks up your tote of recycling and brings it to the center and sorts it. Glorified garbage man with more leg work.

I'm a nursing student. If things work out I'll be a Registered Nurse in June 2014, so I'm halfway through the three-year program.

I'm a teacher. 10th grade English in a huge public school in Oakland. I'm suffering some extreme burnout and questioning the future of my teaching career. I know I want to stay in the field of education/literacy, but I don't know if I'll be a classroom teacher after this year.

It's a secret.
Really, for the five people who don't know, I clean up dog shiitake for a living. And sometimes I dress animals in ridiculous costumes.

Indigenous policy for the federal government. At the moment I'm in economic development, but in a couple of weeks I'll be moving over to work on food security policy for remote Indigenous communities. I also study part time (Master's degree), volunteer at an international development NGO on Fridays and in the new year I'll be training to become a volunteer phone counsellor for a suicide hotline.

I'm a group leader in a before- and after-school program (I'm in charge of the second grade) and a peer writing tutor in my university's writing center. I'm also in school full time studying English and elementary education.

I work part time at a thrift store and am an university undergrad, I think I should have about two semesters left after this one.

I work for a bank (so definitely The Man, but probably a much smaller Man than Monkeytoes') as a jack-of-all-trades in the mortgage underwriting department. I'm also in school, but in sociology/women's studies, not finance, so it's interesting but ultimately pointless in terms of career.

I think that is hilarious. Also, I don't know if you love what you do, but it sounds rad.

I'm PA to the CEO/HR/office management/IT/general dogsbody at a small rare cancer charity in the UK. It's kinda been sucking my will to live for about a year now, so I'm trying to get into either the NHS, the university, or a corporation. Or maybe the government, though I don't think I'm allowed to work for them until I'm a citizen.
I'd love to stay in the third sector if it paid enough, but now that I know it's basically the same shiitake for less pay compared to working for a corporation (the only difference being what makes me hate it), I figure I'm no longer too fussed about where I work/who I work for. Apart from a proper evil corporation - I would never work for, say, Exxon no matter how much they paid me.
