My understanding in that the Chinese animal testing policy is for products imported into China for sale in their country, and that it doesn't apply for products manufactured in China for export.

The Make Up Geek products are labelled as cruelty free but they're made in China, so I'm glad to hear this!

The Make Up Geek shadows that I ordered had something non-vegan in them. Lanolin alcohol maybe? I just know that the ones I got didn't have carmine so I thought they were safe, but them when I got them no dice. It sucks too, they're awesome.

So, are there any brands of perfume available that aren't sold in China? I thought I'd be ok with Stella but she has stores in China. And I think it's good that companies don't test or only if forced to but at the same time I wish they didn't test at all so while I'm not going to get rid of my bottle of Stella, it would be good to know of any brands that aren't sold in China for future purchases.

I doubt Stella McCartney distributes her perfume products. You'd have to look that up separately.

You can alter a bit if you like more or less of a scent. I am so shocked it works so well. just made my first batch! i'm excited to try it out tonight. thanks again! i shook it up really good to mix it, and made a lot of foam on top... do you find that it separates over time, or should i be good now?

The foam will go away after about a week or less, don't worry about it. I added another drop of oil in my bottle because my mascara is so stubborn. I also use it to take off my foundation. Hope you like it! You can always tweak it a bit to your liking.

I always though Chanel were ok and I spent too much on their vitalumiere foundation recently. But they do sell in China so they must animal test too!??
I'm also now worried that Bourjois are not ok, because I'm sure I read that Chanel either own them or are linked to them. GAH!
Edit: DAMMIT! Dior too? I just bought their concealer. Fuckholes.

Yeah, Dior's part of LVMH, as are Givenchy and Make Up Forever...I don't know if the latter is sold in China. LVMH also owns Sephora but I'm not sure shopping at Sephora for vegan items is any more of an issue than buying hummus at a large grocery store. I shop online anyway, because I'm lazy. Thing is, with a large conglomerate like LVMH, it's hard to know which hands are in which pots. But i think all of their cosmetics are sold in China, and I'd be hard-pressed to believe that even they knew all the specs on the labs they contract with.
