I hope this is the right thread. Just made this little hoopla for my youngest for the holidays.
I kinda sorta love it.

i just made the norma in purple for a friend's baby. it's one of the nicest and easiest lace blankets i've made (easy to memorize, easy to hide where i messed up!).

it's a bunch of patterns smooshed to create a slug.

the main outfit is this hoodie and leggings:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... --leggings

instead of bear ears i did antenna and whiskers from this snail/slug pattern:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garden-snail

and then for the ruffles i found a basic ruffle pattern that i did up each side of the back of the hoodie and then each side of each leg:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... to-the-max

(i think i did the smaller size ruffle)

i'm pretty proud of myself. we laughed for a good 15 minutes the first time she put it on. it's so ridiculously cute.

Wheee! The amazing fabric I ordered from Spoonflower just arrived. It's the same design as the following image but orange/red tentacles on a black background:

Image

I'm going to turn it into a Simplicity 2444 dress:

I'm working on a wearable toile in white cotton at the moment to get the sizing right. I'm not going to mess up my tentacle dress!

I'm using the pattern that's shown in green fabric but I've lowered the neckline and added a Peter Pan collar. The waist sash only goes from the side seams so I might extend that to come from the zip at the back instead. I'll show all the adjustments when I post photos.

I think a peter pan collar will look terrific on that dress!

purple sounds beautiful! and yes, the pattern was easy to catch onto and easy to fix a mistake, if you caught it within a row or two - which I usually did. I think my newest grandson will love it! hope your friend's baby loves yours just as much.

Sometimes, only knitting gets you through
A couple of weeks ago, my father suffered a massive heart attack. He was on life support for a few days, during which time, family members across the country came to his side. Since he was in ICU, only one or two people at a time could enter the room. And he was given rest in between. So, that left a lot of time spent in a waiting room, with not a lot to do (except chat with long-time-no-see family members. We did a lot of that!)
I heard myself saying, repeatedly, "if all I can do is sit here wringing my hands, then at least they are going to produce something useful and beautiful." It was during this time that I knit a blanket for my soon-to-arrive grandson.
My father passed with his family surrounding him, and a great outpouring of love. And his newest great-grandchild will have a blanket imbued with love for him knit right into it.
"Sunrise, sunset, swiftly fly the years. One season following another, laden with happiness and tears."
