So, this makes me feel like such a jerk - I have some friends that go out of their way to make me awesome vegan food, and recently, I've realized that onions are the main trigger food for my IBS, so now in addition to making me vegan food, I have to ask my friend not to use onions. It's not my fault, I know, and I also won't die if I eat onions, but I'll be really uncomfortable and it just sucks.

Hey IJDI, just gotta tell 'em! so many of my friends have so many different dietary triggers, I don't know why but almost all my friends either have IBS or celiac. One or the other! Heh. Many different things to remember and accommodate, but I really enjoy making them happy and showing them I care enough to remember all the little no's. Like, it's almost more fun somehow cooking for them then it is to cook with no restrictions.

Yup, just tell 'em. Biker boy has digestive issues with onions too and, while he will eat a little bit, I just stopped using any at all when I cook for him. Most of the time it really makes very little difference to the finished product so it's just not a big deal.

But if he had actually done some sort of exam and aspirated it or something in the first place, he would have known it wasn't fat! I mean, every time Sable had a lump, the vet would carefully check it, aspirate it, and look at the sample under the microscope. You'd think that my mom would get the same level of care as my dog did!

Thanks Mars and Monkeytoes. I just e-mailed them. I'd probably feel less bad about it if these friends were already vegan. It just seems like SO many things I can't eat. But i know these friends really love cooking and get excited about trying new vegan dishes, so I don't think it will phase them too much. And you're right. I always want to know about everyone's dietary restrictions when I cook so I can make sure everyone enjoys their food.

I felt like that when I stopped eating gluten--like everyone would think I was just a huge pain in the asparagus. At least not eating onions isn't trendy like not eating gluten so people won't assume you're doing it to be cool!

I'm going to totally pull an omni comment here but man, I just don't think I could give up onions! I love onions so much! Everything is better with onions on it! The only thing keeping me from being onion free is onions! Lol the comments sound so silly when you sub out meat/bacon/cheese for a random item.
In all seriousness, that sucks IJDI. I have figured out I can't do raw onions, they can make me pretty nauseous.

Ugh, stupid IRS. A month and a half ago they sent me a letter saying I owed them an additional $1,000 plus penalties for 2010. They give you about 15 days to respond, in writing, with evidence to back your shiitake up if you think they're wrong (which they are.) I got another letter from them today and was kind of excited to open it because I really did think they'd say they were accepting my return as filed. Nope. They got my package a month ago and they're sending me a letter to say they need another two months to review it. So it took them a year and a half to decide there was a mistake, I get 15 days to defend myself, and then they take 90 days to so much as look at what I've sent. Yay!

Good for you for saving the pudding ashley! Although, I think it's funny that they made you eat half of it. After you swallowed one spoon full, you'd think they'd feel pretty safe that you weren't eating explosives.

Long. asparagus. Day. I feel so useless after work sometimes. Like I just want to help more but I am not able to. The system jerks people around sometimes and it's frustrating that I cannot do more.

I am embroidering things I want to scream. it's taking so long to write out that each thought repeats for hours in my head. it isn't healthy.

That happened to me this summer, except they wanted $1800. I sent in my shiitake, they assessed it, I ended up only having to fork over $550. What the forking fork. That sucked SO MUCH. What is it with the IRS and suddenly giving a crepe about people's 2010 taxes?!

I hope there's an award for "Most butt pix sent to PPKers"
I think I might be a strong contender!

Yesterday, I went to the dentist for my yearly checkup. Last night when I looked in the mirror, I noticed a chunk of one of my front teeth has gone missing. Thanks, dentist. I'm gonna call soon and they'll probably tell me they can get me an appointment in january. *shakes fist*

Ugh, I'm not really recovering from this norovirus very well. Still feel a little nauseous, no appetite, and really tired, and this is the fourth day.
I did get massively, black-out drunk on Thursday (partly because if I want to go anywhere involving walking or standing without too much pain I have to decide between medicating myself with painkillers or alcohol, and I chose the latter and then evidently didn't know where to stop), so I guess I'd already knocked my immune system onto it's knees, ready to be at the mercy of the virus.
Bleugh.
