I was raised vegetarian but didn’t decided to go vegan until a few months ago. I’m currently in my second year of graduate school where I’m working towards my masters in geology. I also have type I diabetes. In fact, a general desire to spite my endocrinologist and to give my high cholesterol the bird is what finally pushed me over the edge and into veganism. I’d been considering it for a long time, but, cheese. I’m really glad I switched. I’ve been having a lot of fun with new foods and secretly feeding all my friends vegan muffins. So, hi everybody!

Hello. My real name is Claire and I'm from London, UK. I've been vegan now for three weeks (I think) and am desperately hoping to find some new friends who know what the fudge they're doing, because I sort of feel like I'm stumbling about in the dark lol.
I'm 24, fave colour is red, love movies and sleep with my headphones on. I live with my grandmother, who has pretty much gone vegan with me.
So, hello to you all. *waves*

Hi! I'm Lissa; I live in Wellington (New Zealand), working for the friendly local head shop, and cross stitching profanity on the side.
I'm a recent-ish convert to cooking vegan (it saved my health :D) and have developed an obsession with awesome vegan food. I figured this would be a good place to fuel that obsession and stoke my vegan fire!

When I move back home to NZ, I'd like to be friends with you. ETA: I like your website! Going to share it with the one other vegan I know in Wellington.

Hi all, I'm Blueberries, I joined ages ago but haven't really posted much. I'm Irish and I'm currently living in Barcelona. I've been vegan for over 4 years :D. I'm starting my own container vegetable garden and I like to bake. If any of you double-forum and are on the vegan forum (veganforum.com) you probably know me from there!

Hi, I'm Izzy. Right now I live in the south where mayonnaise salads and eating your own deer meat is pretty common. I was a cheesetarian for about twelve years and it took even longer to admit I've got a dairy allergy. Didn't think I could go vegan until trying recipes like pumpkin muffins and tempeh shepherdess pie.

Hi im kate. I went vegan in august. I am a teacher of autistic children i love running and yoga oh and wine.
I was referred to this site for people struggling to stay vegan. I have not been feeling well and am worried i am not eating the right things. Looking for advice. I am in non vegan friendly territory which does not help ( northwest suburbs of michigan)

Hi Kate! Welcome to PPK :) You can totally get healthy and stay vegan! Think fresh & think made-from-scratch. There are HEAPS of vegan recipes online, and a whole world of amazing vegan cookbooks to investigate too - if you would like some recommendations, just ask.
If you can swing to it, buy a juicer and use it every day (juicing was definitely a game changer for me!).

Hi. I'm Kat. I've been vegetarian for about 15 years, and vegan for the past year. I was one of those people who wouldn't give up cheese for the longest time. Now I don't miss it all.
I've been lurking here forever, and thought it would be less creepy if I joined.

Hi there! I'm Carie and I'm from Washington State. Not the cool Seattle area, though - a small rural town in "the desert." Luckily, I'm moving in less than a year! I became vegetarian two years ago and vegan a year ago. I've made quite a change in recent times. When I first became vegan, I was following a certain NO-fat vegan almost religiously and everything I ate was disgusting. Most of my food was frozen then boiled to death, cooked in the microwave, or came from a can. Now I'm all about delicious, homemade food made with fresh ingredients (and nuts, avocados, seeds, and oils!) I've lurked on the PPK forum for a long time and finally decided to jump in. Everyone here seems so nice :)

Hi All, I've been vegan for about 15 years, vegetarian for a couple of years before that. I live in a rural area outside of a very small town. I know a few vegans, but sadly, some of the vegans in my life have gone back to their old way of eating. This seems like a friendly place. I hope to make some new friends here, and also hope that I might be able to offer some support to new vegans.

Hi, awesome vegan folk!
I'm Katie, and I'm a five-going-on-six month vegan living and schooling in New York. I've been a fan of the PPK for ages... I think even before I went vegan. Like many of you, I'm pretty much obsessed with vegan cooking and baking. (I kind of sleep with the Veganomicon under my pillow. What sensible vegan doesn't?) Sometimes it gets lonely, being the only vegan I'm friends with, so I thought I'd join up in the hopes of finding more wonderful people that share my love for this lifestyle. What a blessing. Cheers!

Hi guys,
I'm Lena...a returning member of the board. My name was Laine on the old board, and my avi was a pair of bunnies (not that that'll jog anyone's memory but, hey...). Since there's another user with the same name, I guess I need to figure out something new.
Anywho, glad to be back. I'll be adding my two cents in again, if you don't mind.
XOXO, Lena
