What are your favorite places for vegan food in Tijuana? I'm especially looking for something family-owned, who might be interested in being part of a story on vegan options in the area. But I'd also just love to know what people like to eat there!

The only thing I consumed the one time I went to TJ was tequila. Lots and lots of tequila. I was 18.

ooh this would be good to know, I'm going to be in San Diego next week and I might hop over to Tijuana while I'm nearby.

Last time I went, I wasn't vegan. We actually enjoyed going down the coast more to Ensenada. Its not that long of a drive but again, I don't think we were vegan last time we went. Tijuana is a bit too crowded for me.

andi_vert either is from Tijuana or lived there for a while. I'd definitely poke her if she doesn't jump in here.

Out of curiosity, when are you leaving San Diego?

I'll be there the 11-15th.

And I did a search of restaurants in Ensenada, there was one possibly promising one.

Not sure if there are other restaurants along the coast, they are generally all about lobster from TJ down to Ensenada.

Also, towards Ensenada, there is also La Bufadora! I don't understand why but it tends to draw a crowd.

I have nothing useful to add to this thread except that if you do drive to Ensenada, you will get to see a boob house (NSFW?) off the side of the highway.

I asked Andi on FB about it and she said she'd do some investigation. She said that if you can find vegetarian things, you can often modify them to be vegan but not a lot of things that are offered as vegan. I'll report back if she doesn't pop in here on what she says!
