What are your favorite places for vegan food in Tijuana? I'm especially looking for something family-owned, who might be interested in being part of a story on vegan options in the area. But I'd also just love to know what people like to eat there!

ooh this would be good to know, I'm going to be in San Diego next week and I might hop over to Tijuana while I'm nearby.

Last time I went, I wasn't vegan. We actually enjoyed going down the coast more to Ensenada. Its not that long of a drive but again, I don't think we were vegan last time we went. Tijuana is a bit too crowded for me. I'm sure you checked but Happy Cow isn't looking good: http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=5822andi_vert either is from Tijuana or lived there for a while. I'd definitely poke her if she doesn't jump in here.

Out of curiosity, when are you leaving San Diego? I'll be there the 11-15th. (And didn't really mean to hijack) I'll be there after the 23rd. And I did a search of restaurants in Ensenada, there was one possibly promising one. http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=1418Not sure if there are other restaurants along the coast, they are generally all about lobster from TJ down to Ensenada. Also, towards Ensenada, there is also La Bufadora! I don't understand why but it tends to draw a crowd. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Bufadora

It would be nice if Andi_vert was still around.

I asked Andi on FB about it and she said she'd do some investigation. She said that if you can find vegetarian things, you can often modify them to be vegan but not a lot of things that are offered as vegan. I'll report back if she doesn't pop in here on what she says!
