Thanks. She was almost a show dog, but she has this little gap between her incisors and I guess that meant she wasn't good enough to compete. It's something so tiny, it just seems silly. But it's better for her that she flunked out, because now she gets to live in a home with a family, whereas if she was "perfect" she would have been kept as a show/breeding animal.
Heyheyeheye... I came from the confirmation world and our dogs were pets first, competitors second.

Our sheltie is a "failed" show dog too! Champion bloodline, blah blah who cares. I can't even remember what his flaw was, but I'm glad it's there. People are really dumb.

this is where ophelia lives when it's cold. if i lie on my back, she moves around and curls up on my throat. if she weighed more than five pounds, she'd probably have suffocated me in my sleep by now.

This dog was not a pet. She has never lived in a house before, as far as I can tell.
Right, but many breeders do co-ownership sales of their dogs to pet homes, even if they still plan on breeding or showing them. A show home does not necessarily mean a kennel life. But I also think I read something incorrectly when I read the comment initially so may have overreacted. LOL, sorry.

We were watching Rudolph on tv, and Tegan was fascinated with the singing & dancing elves! At the beginning, when they did the "We are Santa's Elves" song (before I got the camera, unfortunately!), Tegan ran over to the tv, stood up on her hind legs and had her face pressed against the screen. I went and grabbed the camera, but she didn't show any more interest until the very end, when the elves started dancing again.

Now every time I see that part of Rudolph, I'll think of Tegan.

For Tegan's viewing pleasure, I see Rudolph is on again tonight at 8 EST. *hums We Are Santa's Elves*
