I need to start E on an iron supplement or multivitamin. His iron came back a little low. He is 12m and I am not sure he is ready for a chewable but I might try if I cant find anything. Anyone have any suggestions for a vegan iron or multi drop or powder? I am going to the HFS later but they don't always have vegan friendly kids stuff so we will see I guess.

I was reading about this in Vegan for Life and they suggested 12 months for bf babies as long as the mom is getting sufficient B12 in her diet.

How did this get to 2 pages without an anti-fluoridation conspiracy popping up? <3 U PPK

i'm not doing any supplements for either kiddo right now. tzipi was taking a multi vitamin for a while this year, and vit D last winter. i feel like i suck at this stuff. i sort of feel like vitamin supplements are hogwash, but then i'll get freaked out by potentially causing my kid to get malnutrition and then get confused while trying to figure out what to give her, and then forget about it altogether for a few months, rinse and repeat.
does lydia need anything? she's breastfed, should i start her on a vit d supplement this winter? what about tzipi? she's 3 in feb, typical picky toddler (not super picky, but small appetite and can be stubborn)... should i get her another multi? i didn't like the ones i had her on before, there was no iron and pretty low levels of everything else. she was taking floradix with me while i was pregnant though.

Breastfed babies should be getting Vitamin D from birth. I know nothing yet about 3 year olds!

How on earth do you remember to give baby the vitamin D? I have had it for months now and maybe given it to him five times because the only time I think of it is when he is sleeping! Someone suggested giving it to him while he is in his nightly bath, but I feel kinda bad because he acts like it is so disgusting and then doesn't have anything to wash it down with. Any fabulous ideas?

Annasrobbie, I used to keep the D drops on my nightstand and put a drop on my nipple before Ada nursed in the morning. She didn't seem to notice.

I have the worst time remembering, too. I now put a drop in the first bottle that she gets on days when I'm at work. On the weekends when we are just nursing, I usually forget. I started giving two drop on Friday and two drops on Monday to make up for the weekend.
Can anyone recommend what you are using to supplement b12 with after a year?

I gave Lydia two drops of the Vit D drops when I remembered because I tended to be very forgetful and didn't remember to give them often enough. The drops I used were 400 IU per drop, and the upper limit for vitamin D for babies under 6 mos is 1000 IU ( source), so I figured two drops was safe.

@lb, I really like the VFL book so far, both for info pertaining to myself and K, as well as for the bean. Nice to have someone else I trust sum things up for me. :D
Butternut, we just ordered some B12 spray for Freya. We use a D spray, so figured this would probably be ok too. Once she gets a bit older, I think we'll try a gummy multi if she's still eating in that lovely toddler way where one day she consumes her whole body weight in food and the next she'll only eat a toast crust and 3 blueberries. :p Happy Birthday Babynut, btw. :)
