ETA: Sorry, I'm in a super silly/giddy mood. And this made me laugh out loud.

I've heard of people using a bobby pin or stick pin stuck in an eraser.

I just saw that at a nail site. Will have to try it. May be easier than drawing a straight line with my shaky hands.

i'm wearing zoya nimue this week. i'm never sure about this one... i like it, but it's always a little different than i expect, or something. still have zoya petra on my toes... starting to plot my next mani/pedi; haven't done any navy blues for awhile!

i also learned that there's a salon on my side of town that has all zoya products(!!!) so i'm going to make a point of checking them out. i got a mailer offering a free mani with a pedi, and one of the pictures was of tons of zoya bottles displayed on the wall. very excited!

I broke into my top shelf stash and did Chanel Platinum.

God, this is gorgeous. It's like a combination of mirrors and liquid silver on the nail. It is my most valuable/rare polish so I hoard it mightily. You also can't wear a top coat with it because the mirror effect dims, and it comes with a special fixing base. The good thing is you only need one coat! I actually can fix my lipgloss in these nails if I want to!

If this doesn't make tomorrow a good day, nothing will.

I tried those Kiss nail strips that are fancy today....They are vegan & look cool. They did not work for me. :/ My nails have been bare lately...

I've started biting my nails again and can't stop. Sad face.

For me, stuff like that is like a nervous fidget and it's really hard to refrain from doing it. When I find myself fidgeting in a destructive way (I scratch my lips or cuticles a lot, esp in dry weather), I try to refocus my fidgets on something innocuous like turning a lipstick tube or something. Like the old pebble in a pocket works for some folks but I don't wear pockets much. Is there something on your desk or that you can keep on a necklace or in your pocket to redirect yourself away from your nails? It has to be more satisfying than biting the nails. For me, it's all about size and shape, something soft and smooth that I can turn over and over and over without thinking. The shape of those Hurraw lip balm cases is like magic for me. I also have a bean-shaped pen that keeps that part of my brain occupied.

problem solved. my student stopped by the office while i was cleaning out my backpack and we found these fake nails another student had brought me from comic-con, so he and i put them on. ugh, it feels weird. (and they're hideous, but that goes without saying.)

The Zoya flash promos have begun:

http://zoyanailpolish.blogspot.com/2012 ... -nail.html

I got the three free polishes with a $20 mini colorlock system - no free shipping, but i've always wanted to try their colorlock stuff so it's a good deal for me, but I don't think the actual value is high. If I manage to catch a really good one later today I might cancel that order.

Shame you missed out :(

Right now I'm trying to find the Zoya ridge filling base coat here for less than $21, I might try an ebay seller in the US

Another book mani - I'm happy with the green but I don't love the accent nail. For the green nails: 1 layer of Zoya Suvi, 1 layer of Zoya Gemma then Orly Liquid Vinyl for the leaves using KIP M21. The accent nail is 2 coats of Zoya Maura and then I used a dotting tool and a skinny paint brush to do the knife using Orly Liquid Vinyl and Orly Dazzle

I love the book manis!

Regarding Zoya: I kind of really wanted to do the mini mani flash promo yesterday but I was on my phone and just couldn't handle it. I need to put some colors on my wishlist so i can actually take advantage when another good one comes around.

First time in about 3 months I've done a mani with regular polish. Love the colour but god its annoying to apply normal polish now.

Anyway it's Barry M gelly polish in blueberry. Ring finger has a snowflake from KIP M59 and Orly silver prisma gloss on top for some sparkle. The gelly is a bit more purple in real life, it's lovely.

That is SO pretty, baps! Also, love the book manis, kitteh. The polka dot is my favorite.

I have bare nails. Sniffle. Life is rough. I tried to paint them with a sheer pink last night (Sweet Memories by OPI), and I even managed to screw that up. The polish is pretty old though, so I'm blaming that. Or something.

Red Dream. Dark Red glitter jelly. I love this polish. From a distance it looks kind of vampy, but up close, it's a glitter bomb. Well, sort of.

Baps - I love that blue! What are the gelly polishes like? I've stopped myself from ordering any up until now but they look so good. Also, what's the difference btw applying regular polish and gel (is that what you're referring to when you say it was a pain to paint your nails?)

Another book mani - Zoya Dana, Perrie, Yummy with Dove over the top. I used tape and some crafty/scrapbooking scissors to get the wavy shape
ImageImage

And I ordered some new stamping plates yesterday, I was looking on Pinterest for inspiration and someone mentioned using a Cheeky plate, so I found their website and they are bigger images and bigger plates plus they come in an adorable little box. I got the summer 2012 set (free shipping!)

That is SO COOL, kitteh! I went for a manicure during lunch and just got OPI's Bubble Bath gel. Kind of boring, but it'll look clean and neat for at least a week and a half or two, so I'll take it. I might investigate gold glitter to put over it for week 2.

Kitteh and Baps are blowing me away!

Work is killing my fingernails. They're drying out, thinning out, peeling off, etc. It's starting to actually be a bit painful.

The gelly polishes are nice, the colours are really pretty and they're nice and shiny. Even before I added top coat it was nice and shiny. I bought my workmate the red one (I have it too, but haven't used it yet) and she loves it. She says she only needs one coat!

With gel polish, it doesn't dry, it stays liquid until you put it in the lamp to cure. So if you bash any you can fix it and you have loads of time to get the layer thin and even. Also, with Konad, you put it over the cured top coat, then re top coat, so if you muff it up, you can just remove it and try again. It's just way easier than regular polish, because regular polish is starting to dry as soon as you put it on and you have to put on thicker layers to get the colour even. I used to be good at painting nails, haha - I smudged 2 nails! :( I'm gonna have to practice with regular polish though becuase I'm opening a beauty room in our summer house and if I ever get clients, not all of them will want gelicure i'm sure.

I'm loving your book manis by the way! :)
