You guys: Provamel hazelnut milk is officially the Best Thing Ever. I had never seen it for sale before - apparently it's new here in the Netherlands. I bought it just to try it, and I'm totally sold after the first sip. Just made hot cocoa with it, which is even better. Also, I had trouble keeping myself from typing this in all-caps.

I have to make like 20-30 holiday cards and get my swap package together before I leave for my vacation on Tuesday. I'm hosting a potluck tonight, I promised to photograph a friend's baby tomorrow, and I have plans with my mom for most of Sunday. The idea I had in mind for the holiday cards may be too time consuming to make happen. and I wanted to knit something for my ppk partner, but I definitely won't have time for that before my trip.

I decided that I really like my faux meat snack foods (fingers, nuggets, whatever) to be really, really crispy and dry. I was cooking something and the package said 20 minutes but I think it really needed closer to 30.

I'm back!!!!! My laptop completely croaked it. I ended up having to get a loan to get a new one because after I paid the deposit my car decided to die too. Luckily that was repairable.

Started the new job. It is mostly fine. One of the others is being a bit of an impatient kumquat but if she snaps at me one more time she will get it right back. She hasn't a clue that in other services things are done dramatically different. Even the damn paperwork and forms are different! Got the head chewed off me for not doing things "the right" way. Sod her anyway.

How is everyone doing? Did I miss anything interesting in the past 3 weeks?

My dog is being so well behaved today that I forgot he was in the office until I could hear a belly rumbling that wasn't mine.

Is bubble gum not a thing anymore? I was thinking about finding vegan bubble gum, then I remembered how hard it was to find any Bubblicious or Bubble Yum for a care package for my stepdaughter. (Her parents were happy that my attempts to rot her teeth out of her head were thwarted!)

Muahahhaaha! Maybe I could pee in her chair?!

We've figured out our plumbing issues! (Did I mention I had plumbing issues? Yeah, it's been a fun couple of weeks with a uti, diarrhea, and morbid fear of flushing and/or toilet paper)

Anyway, it's actually a problem with the city's plumbing lines. Which is great because we don't have to pay to fix it. The not-great thing is that our house flooded twice because of this and we need new floors and had to have professionals come out both times to dry it out, not to mention the $400 emergency plumber. So unless the city just agrees to foot the bill, we're looking at fights with the city.

I laughed hard at this earlier, now karma has decided to get me. My gorgeous man is on his way to mine and my body is expelling noises I didn't know were possible. I know I am going to shame myself at some stage of this evening.

T'is the season, and I feel really happy! I like my new job, my husband arrived this past Tuesday, and things are going right. Our real estate taxes are paid until JUNE!!! I am HAPPY! I wish this feeling for everyone!

My BFF's boyfriend just told her he loved her for the first time, and she's texting me all excited. I don't like him, I think he's bad for her. She mostly knows how I feel about this. I ignored her text for a couple hours and she keeps sending me exclamation mark texts, she clearly wants me to respond and be happy with/for her. I want to, for her sake... but it's so hard. I think she's settling out of desperation. Lots of guys and gals who she's into totally express interest in her and all that, but he's the first guy who was super diligent about texting her a lot, initiating all the time, etc... so that's why she ended up sliding with him and stopped dating others. It's sad too, because there are currently two people who have shown to me how much they're into her who I like SO MUCH MORE than her boyfriend. People who are passionate and talented. But they're also timid and don't show HER this. Ugh. Well I guess it's too late for them, for now at least.

WOW rant. So hard to be supportive! Any words from the wise would be appreciated.

I agree with dropscone. My bff knows that her husband and I don't get along, but we both love her dearly. So we're respectful to each other and keep our mouths shut because we both want her to be happy, and she seems to like both of us.

ugh, that sucks mars, but i think my only wise words are that she has to figure out he's not right for her on her own. i dated a guy for a long time that my friends didn't like and i kept how bad he was from most of my friends and family, not on purpose. telling her that you don't like him is only going to isolate you from her rather than split them. sorry! that is rough. i've actually also been in your position, and i really think the only thing you can do is keep being her friend and if she tells you something he did that sucks, you can tell her that it sucks, but not that HE sucks. does that make any sense?

Weird family phone call of the week.

Me: So are you going to XYZ party tonight?
Her: [Five minute monologue about weight. No answer about party attendance.]

I was eating some roasted squash. I had finished eating roasted squash. I found a piece of roasted squash down my shirt. I picked it up and ate it.

yessss, that's the stuff, I'd love to be about to get it over here. it was tastytimez! I also have a friend in Spain teasing me about not being able to get chufa horchata here, because that shiitake was stupid tasty too. aaaaaargh!!

Two people at my work have whooping cough and so now every time I cough I'm freaked out. But it's probably just wintery sniffles. Right? URGH.

I think it starts as typical cold symptoms for a week or so and then the nasty cough starts. Don't hesitate to go to the doctor and start antibiotics if you start showing symptoms. Whooping cough scares me. I got vaccinated. I also have a baby at home however.

Earlier today I bought a white rose kombucha from New Seasons and then I put it in my bag and forgot about it and I just found it now several hours later. SO EXCITED. Wait this might belong in the best thing that happened to me today thread.
