Anyone have a good recipe for peppermint or candy cane brownies? I'd love to make some for the holidays. Thanks!

I bet any good brownie recipe with mixed in finely crushed candy canes or topped with frosting and crushed candy canes would be awesome.

And/or add peppermint extract to your favorite brownie recipe, or replace some of the liquid called for with strong peppermint tea.

Make your favorite brownie recipe, then top with a thick layer of mint frosting, followed by ganache. Yum!

Make the deluxe cocoa brownies from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar. Make the cream cheese brownie topping, adding peppermint extract (and a little pink food coloring, if you want) to the cream cheese mixture. Swirl it into the brownies. Bake. Eat.

Mind blown.

I just made the Sticky Fingers brownies (my absolute favorite), frosted with peppermint frosting, crushed candy canes, and drizzled with ganache. Next time I'd add some peppermint extract to the brownies too.

Woah. I was just gonna say make those brownies, stir in some crushed candy canes and call it a day (which I've done with excellent results), but this idea is blowing my mind.

The mint version of the espresso brownies in VCIYCJ is my very favorite recipe in the book. One time, Mr. Schwa and I finished eating a batch, and then went right to the grocery store to get ingredients to make more the same night.

Dumb question: in general are candy canes vegan?

I am so making one of these versions for Christmas. They all sound amazing!

I think so, yes. I try to always read the ingredients but I don't think I've ever seen candy canes that weren't vegan.

I made the Deluxe Brownie/Peppermint cream cheese frosting suggestion.
SO GOOD.

(mine didn't swirl, it still just sat on top but still nommy).

I added like another 1/2+ tsp of mint and a 1/2 tsp vanilla to make it pop. and the deluxe brownie SO FUDGY.

Totally did this. But in between Bake and Eat, I sprinkled the top with crushed candy canes. They got just melty enough to stick. First batch was a huge hit at Sunday night's Christmas dinner. Second batch is going to my mom's with me today. Third batch (in the oven now) are going to work with me tomorrow (I had extra peppermint cream cheesy stuff so I had to bake more brownies, right?)

...and the fourth batch will go in the mail to me?!

Seriously though, the crushed candy canes are inspired. The pic on facebook is making me drool.
