I'm sure there must be threads about this, but it's not letting me search for them. A friend of mine is looking for vegan M&M type candies, which her daughter desperately wants for Christmas. I've had Whizzers before, but I can't seem to find anyone selling them now. Vegan Essentials has Holy Cow, but they're sold out. Anybody know of options available now? Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Ah, confectioners glaze! grr! I know there are kinds without glaze. The ones I've had were not shiny at all.

There's a brand called Buntinies that a vegan store near me carries, but they're out of stock and they don't seem widely available online. Further google searching may help you, though.

Yeah, there are definitely lentils without confectioner's glaze - I didn't do a thorough google search, but I get them locally at a kosher supermarket, so I know they exist.

Doesn't confectioner's glaze come from bugs? Wouldn't that make it not kosher? I'm confused.

So does honey. Usually the prohibition is just against eating the bug itself, not its excretions. And some bugs are actually kosher to start with (although I don't think the ones that produce confectioner's glaze are, and neither are bees).

I've been told that those are vegan, but you may want to contact the manufacturer about the nondescript "wax" in the ingredients list. I emailed them, it's partly beeswax :( Quote: There are two kinds of wax used in the Skippers: carnauba wax-from the palm plant and beeswax-directly from bees. The dark chocolate skippers are processed on shared dairy equipment. If you have any other questions please let us know. Thank you Samantha Vermont Nut Free Chocolates

(but sometimes in that case, it's specified on the label.) the last package of klein's lentils i've gotten mentioned that they use carnauba wax as polishing agent. they also sell minis. (but be aware, they make both dark and milk. but luckily in separate packages.)

I found vegan chocolate lentils at my local Dollar Tree! They're a seasonal thing, and come in a plastic candy cane shaped tube. They're not all that great though... they're made with hydrogenated oil, so they leave this gross film inside your mouth.

They're not all that great though... they're made with hydrogenated oil, so they leave this gross film inside your mouth. I was coming to share this! My FIL got the kiddo some random candy for her stocking. I was about to give the candy cane away before I read the ingredients, but they're all vegan! I don't think I would want to sit down and eat a handful (like I would with real M&Ms) but they would be good for baking. Or good for a kid who has never had the "real" thing. And I think at some point I had a dream that dark chocolate M&Ms were vegan because I was in the store recently and just knew I had to look for dark chocolate ones because they were vegan. What a disappointment when I realized I had totally made this up.
