I finished marking a set of essays that I had let drag out for far too long. I feel good about having them done, but also bad about not having marked them sooner. Such is the life of a procrastinator. Things linger for so long that once you've done them you can't really even enjoy the sense of completion. So I guess this is the "best but also worst" thing about my day.

I definitely wouldn't be the person I am today without it.

I read that my favorite band ever (boysetsfire) is recording a new album after breaking up several years ago. I can't even explain how much this means to me.

Best part of my day was baby kisses. Good ones. Leela started kissing me months ago, but they were open-mouthed, semi-violent ones but today she took my face and very gently kissed me on the mouth. It was insanely cute. She did it three times in the Trader Joes parking lot, and the guys putting the carts away were like "Awwww!" Life with her keeps getting better. My heart is all melty and overjoyed by this being.
Thisheregiraffe, Congratulations! I love my doula too! She will always be a huge part of the most important day of my life <3 And yes, it would have gone completely differently without her. Doulas are the best <3

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!! Truthfully I'm really nervous about starting, but I'm SO excited too :D
For those who've had doulas for your pregnancies/labors, I'd be so appreciative if you share your stories with me!

For those who've had doulas for your pregnancies/labors, I'd be so appreciative if you share your stories with me! Do you want to start a thread? Or put it into the births thread? My doula is amazing and we still tell eachother how much we loved being at Leela's birth all the time. TL;DR she came to check me out so I could know when it was the right time to go to the hospital. My birth was so different from what I had thought I would have (20 hours of slow increasing contractions) and was pretty much zero to 60 and crazy intense. She helped focus me on breathing and made me feel like I could do it, even though I had nonstop contractions with no break for 7 hours. In retrospect it was an easy birth, but it didn't feel it at the time. She says she learned a lot, because I was so empowered through it and that I was really focussed, but of course I didn't see that. She was amazing in every possible way. I adored her from our first meeting.

Its not often I see deer and I'd never seen any piddling before. So far today my best thing is having a very happy long haired guinea pig sitting on my tummy. She's squeaking away and ticking me with her whiskers. I think she may have just farted though.

The local news just reported that milk consumption is down 30% since the 1970s and constantly declining. FORK YEAH!

After an extremely long and stressful day, I am now on the sofa in my jimjams, watching Masterchef with a glass of wine. And the next best thing will be the stirfry I am going to cook in a while with the chilli tofu that is currently baking in the oven.

PHO oh pho!!
FC is sick, she has a red throat. Until tomorrow, which is my limit for go-to-doctor or not, we are medicating with food. pineapple juice, licorice tea. Pho with extra garlic, extra ginger, extra shrooms. So our pho is extra delicious.

Found the engagement ring I've been missing for a month and a half...I was really afraid I'd put it in my pocket while doing dishes, and had thus lost it to the washing machine. But it was just in my jewelry box, right in front of my face ever single time I looked there...oh well. I have it now.
