How I wish they were Cheezly shreds. *sob*

sorry, I don't know what's gotten into me. I'm having an emotional vegan cheese moment.

Doesn't look like Daiya to me--Daiya has tapioca, right?

Looks like Galaxy. I've actually never tried those shreds.

As long as it is not the Vegan Cheeze brand, it had no flavor and when the cheddar shreds melted - no color.

I'm excited to try them! I don't do a lot of Galaxy products, but I like their cream cheese. Is weird though that I liked the repackaged TJ's cream cheese better than the Galaxy cream cheese though? I'm pretty sure they're the same.

I think it is the Galaxy shreds, too. it would make more sense for TJ's to carry that than Daiya, since they already have the Galaxy vegan cream cheese. I actually like the shreds better than Daiya.

OH, I finally let myself get the cinnamon rolls! They were much better than most can cinnamon rolls, but I think they may have made me sick. Or eating all five in two days made me sick...

I got the mozzarella shreds this afternoon and can't wait to try them. I'm doing a side by side taste test with the Daiya and the TJ's shreds on a roasted veggie pizza. A serving of the TJs shreds has 25% of daily calcium requirements vs. zero for Daiya, so that's a big plus for me already.

I'm rarely disappointed with Trader Joe's, however, I thought the cheese shreds were just awful - chalky and unpleasant tasting. Nothing like Daiya (which I love). I won't be buying them again.

That is such a bummer! I'm still going to try them though. Maybe I'll use them in my "pepperoni" rolls.

Maybe people who don't like Daiya will like them. I would almost hate to see a vegan product fail there, they have been so great about increasing the vegan options in the past couple of years.

"pepperoni rolls" - what are those, ndpittman? I need a way to use up what I bought and that sounds interesting. (I now confess that I actually bought two packages.)

Pepperoni rolls are kind of like cinnamon rolls, but with cheese and pepperoni. I am a lazy mustard, so I'm going to try making them with crescent rolls (also purchased at trader joe's).

The calcium content was one of the reasons I bought the Galaxy shreds...we had them on a pizza and they were just gluey and stuck to your teeth in a really strange way.

I just looked up Galaxy. The ingredients look very similar but not identical.

I just read somewhere that they are Galaxy shreds repackaged. That's too bad. I thought the taste of Galaxy was pretty good but the texture was wrong. Maybe they have changed the formulation since then though...

Crush up the Joe Joe's, mix in enough cream cheese till you can form balls. Roll small balls, refrigerate for a few hours until solid, then dip in melted chocolate to make truffles. They're amazing!!!

Aw, someone I work with is making Oreo truffles, and asked me if I could eat cream cheese because she knew that Oreos are vegan, so she wanted to share. I thought that was really sweet of her (and kind of random). I was like, well, I can eat vegan/non-dairy cream cheese, but I don't think that's what you mean.
