I fully expected my gun nut friend to flip out today. He did but in the same way I did, which I have to say... shocked me.

My dog is wheezing very badly and doesn't want to eat. The vet is seeing her early in the morning. I'm worried it could be turning into pneumonia, or could be something more serious, like canine flu. Both of which are really bad.

One corner of my mouth is really dry and cracking since the reaction I had to whatever I ate a few days ago, and it is fine except when I try to do a big yawn.

i'm so sorry, rc. :( i really hope it's something you can treat quickly. you've spent enough time in hospitals.

Thanks, guys. This is like the last thing I want to deal with right now. She started coughing when my mom was in the hospital, then she stopped after a couple of days and I thought it was over. But then the coughing came back bad a few days ago and turned into wheezing. I was trying to listen to her lungs tonight, and I could hear the wheezing but no crackles or anything, but I don't really know what dog's lungs are supposed to sound like. I hope it's not pneumonia, especially after I lost a rabbit to that this summer despite intensive care. I'm really hoping that it's not super serious, and that the vet will find a different antibiotic or something that will work better.

I don't know whether I'm changing or the PPK is but almost every time I log in now something offends me.

That's what it looks like, yeah. I get it after eating certain nuts (or, excitingly, using chapstick), so I'm not super worried, it's just icky. It looks better than it did the other day, at least!

Side note; I wish my mother would change the channel. She has it on the news since last night waiting for something new on the shooting, and I find it upsetting, as almost everyone does, and I just thought maybe we could take a break. She exploded and accused me of being weird for not wanting to hear about it. I watched it all last night. Is it so weird to want to look away from something as upsetting as a forking school shooting?

Not weird at all! I've been reading the news at intervals, but I couldn't watch constant news coverage about it.

The PPK is no longer a safe place, for anyone...

He's definitely due for some good karma after this week. His work sucks right now to the point where he really wanted to quit this week and then this. He has an alarm on the house because he's been broken into before, and it did its job by letting them know they only had a minute or two in there. So not much was taken... a couple of watches and a spare wallet that didn't have much of value. He'll need to get his dive certifications replaced. The big thing is the damage they did to two doors and a window trying to get in. I feel so bad for him right now. He's jus t feeling defeated and I don't know how to help.

The PPK did not used to be a dating/flirting website. I mean, to a certain extent anyway.

I actually thought about making a thread for flirting, so people could do it if they wanted, but I wouldn't have to deal with it. I felt kind of like a prude though. Of course, I kind of am a prude, so that makes sense.

That's a great idea, ndp. I'm also not keen on the recent skeevy flirting vibe that's peppering some of the threads now, but there should be a place for the Kommunity members who like the "hitting on" thing to play nicely with each other.

I'd really like to make some jam or bake some cookies today, but I'm thinking that I should probably do more useful things, like laundry and packing, considering we're leaving town tomorrow for 2 weeks. Boo.

Must remember to pack cookbooks so that I can make all of the deliciousness I want at my mom's house!

By the way, for anyone wondering, the pumpkin spice nog recipe on Bryanna Clark Grogan's blog is super awesome! I may or may not have drank the whole recipe in a matter of a few hours. I regret nothing!

My dog is now on an additional antibiotic, and if she is worse tomorrow, I have to bring her back in for chest x-rays. Let's hope she is better tomorrow! The new antibiotic alone cost almost 70 bucks.

Well, the ppk has always been pretty flirty... but aye with the skeeviness ramping up of late. And not to be exclusionary to newer peoples, but it's mostly in the past occurred around people who have established some kinda previous rapport or whatevers. That's perhaps gone out the windae a bit of late. But again, I'm sorry if you felt I was trying to boob-honk you in public, RR.
