Hey guys! So to confirm - 7pm on Friday at the Urban Vegan on Fullerton? Things are looking good for me work-wise, so hopefully nothing comes up!

ME TOO!
I was curious to know if anybody would mind if I brought my not-vegan friend along to eat vegan vittles with us. He asked to join (which I thought was interesting) but I didn't want to upset anybody, seeing as how this is my very first meet up :) My PERsonal thought is, the more meat eaters eating vegan food for dinner the better, but again I don't wanna offend! Let me know!

FYI - I was checking on the nut-free-ness of West Town Bakery's "vegan" s'mores pancakes and was inadvertently told that the graham cracker crumbles made in-house contain honey. They said they'd rework their recipe to use agave, so at least people who actually live in Chicago will benefit, but I'm probably going somewhere else for my breakfast when I'm there.

See you all at 7pm at the Fullerton Urban Vegan! (And yeah, bring all the non-vegans you want, as far as I'm concerned!)

So I had not been to the West Town Bakery, and after reading the above I went there to buy vegan cake balls for a dinner party I went to last night, and I'd like to blame you rachel for me eating an entire vegan sandwich cookie. THE. ENTIRE. COOKIE.
...i mean it was really delicious. but i practically had a panic attack from the sugar.

December's almost here; we need to finish planning! The 9th still works for me. EmJaeDee, would you like to host since the gingerbread houses were your idea? And how should we do this -- do we each bring our own gingerbread, or will one person provide it? Should we do some sort of cookie exchange too? So excited for this!!

See the thread below :)
I am willing to make (little, CTA- able) gingerbread houses. If everyone brings frosting and candy to share, we should be good. Cookie exchange would be great, I think.

I went to the new Chicago Diner location in Logan Square last night! It was really nice. Food and shakes were just as good as on Halsted - there was actual space to wait (and a bench indoors!) and it was beautifully decorated. There is a very nice-looking full bar as well. Great addition to Logan Square. I'd definitely bring friends to this location first unless I was in East Lakeview.

I'm so excited for the new Diner. It's a pain to get to the original, but now all I have to do is shoot up Milwaukee. One of my coworkers says she'll treat me there when I survive my final. If that's not an incentive to study, I don't know what is.

Unfortunately I am going to a show that night and can't make it :( Somebody please take photos and document the gingerbread houses for me! New York was great! I was thinking of you while I was there. How was your trip??

New York was awesome!! Saw three broadway shows and ate at some great vegan restaurants. We made it to Lula's, and I thought about you while I was there!
Will definitely be taking pictures of the gingerbread house making! Too bad you can't make it. :(

Fred and I went to the Diner tonight. Holy crepe. The entire meal was awesome. Drinks were good (I had a white whiskey take on a Manhattan, the Ghost of Congress or something). The Thai Chili wing special was spot-on flavor-wise and the texture was perfect. I got the bacon avocado wrap, which was delicious, but had more Daiya than I would have liked. Still tasty. He got the special sandwich, which was a blackened tofu po'boy, which was also really good. Then we got a caramel cookie torte that was also killer. I'm so stuffed that I barely survived the ride home.
Best part? Our server brought us a little glass of peanut butter cookie dough milkshake. I've had a lot of milkshakes in my life, but this was hands down the BEST milkshake I have ever had, vegan or not. Wow.

Can anyone suggest a place or area to buy South American foodstuffs? I'll be in Chicago next month and have just started to plan what I'm doing. I'm hoping to bring back proper corn tortillas and some other stuff that I can't get here.
