I've been cookin' all mornin' (and afternoon, I guess) for my work potluck tomorrow. I've made the jasmine rice for the stirfry, the savory tofu for the stirfry and two different types of cookies: chocolate mint melties and chocolate chip. Now I have to work all evening. I'll throw the stirfry together tomorrow morning shortly before I go so it's fresh as possible. So far, so good.

I feel like I've been a creepy PPK lurker forever! But I'm finally on my holidays and have time now to procrastinate and PPK properly (when I should be writing a paper titled "What is English?" - seriously) so hi again.

Seitanicverses - your coworkers will be a lucky bunch - that all sounds delicious!

Also, I just had the worst takeaway sushi ever - it turned up an hour late, the gyoza were all burnt and crunchy, the sushi was bland (and I had such high hopes for it - tempura tofu, asparagus, chives and sushi rice, all wrapped in avocado - it takes skill to make that taste bland) and the sushi pickles tasted like they were on the edge of turning bad. I want to leave a bad review but I'll feel like a jerk because it will be a really bad review - there wasn't a single good thing about that meal.

I made an asparagus out of myself when I was teaching a winter semester class today.

Me: [insert long winded explanation] Therefore the only logical answer is C.
Students:[stare at me like I'm an idiot] The answer is B.
Me: No, it SEEMS like the answer is B but the question is trying to trick you. It's C.
Students: But this question is on the study packet we got last semester. The answer key says it's B.
Me: The answer key is wrong. It's C. Lets move on to the next question.

They were right. The answer was B, but I panicked and insisted that I was right and the forking answer key was wrong.

So, someone tell me I shouldn't feel bad about this: I invited someone over for Christmas dinner and offered them a place to stay since i know they are couch surfing right now. They just said they are getting into the airport(which is close-ish to where I live) at 10am and could they just come over then. That's pretty early on Christmas day, right? We like to sleep in, open presents, eat cinnamon rolls watch Emmett Otter or some other sad Muppet thing, call Eppy's dungeon master's family etc... It sucks because I don't know where he can go from the airport, but I want to have a nice cozy christmas morning with my husband before we have guests.

You can simply say you have morning plans and will be home at x hour to receive guests.

We watched Emmett Otter two years ago, but man is it sad! So cute, but so sad! last year we watched Muppet Family Christmas tv special thing on youtube. it was pretty great, too.

I saw my husband ordering books yesterday! I've got loads of cookbooks on my wishlist, can't wait to see if I get any...

My BFF gave me these boots that were too big for her. They're fairly cowboy, but not pointed toe, really rough and tumble looking. I feel real cute in them.

My mum has been home sick yesterday afternoon and today because she threw up and has a dodgy tummy. So now I’m paranoid that a) it’s the norovirus and b) that I’m gonna get it next.

I know it’s nearly lunchtime so that’s why I feel a bit nauseous but if I get sick at Christmas I’m gonna be super sad!!

It has felt like Friday for days now. It's really almost Friday though, right?

baps - my mom wrote on facebook that she was throwing up and stuff. I wanted to tell her that if she wasn't well, I wasn't coming to visit (wouldn't happen but would be a nice try). Luckily she is better.

I really want to go get my hair cut before my trip but not sure where I want to go and I only really have tomorrow to do it. I could go to the place I went last time where the girls wear hot pants and other revealing clothes and most of the clientele is male (I wasn't aware of this fact until I went there).

Yeah I wouldn't go either if she had something contagious. Unfortunately I live with mine so Dad & I are probably next if it is the norovirus.

I don't think it is though, I think she just ate something rubbish or has a tummy bug. When I had the noro a few years ago i was throwing up constantly for 2 or 3 days as soon as it started. I had to miss a foo fighters concert, i was so freakin miserable! haha

Ugh, I feel for you, throwing up is the worst. With mine, I have 2 expensive tickets cross country (3,000 miles) so I'm going no matter what although hah I might've told my mom that I'd stay at my grandmother's house instead.

Bus! Why are you so slow? It was too rainy to bike. I knew I should've waited for a cab.

I really just want to stop getting advice on what to do with my math teacher and the final I never got to take. Mom and one of my neighbors seem to delight in telling me what to do and when and why and it's like, the teacher is forking gone. She told me she'd be gone after yesterday. She forked me over. At this point I want to just take whatever I get and still attempt to take the prealgebra that I signed up for next semester. I no longer care that much about it.

That is a sucky situation. I advise that you, at some point, retake the class because you won't want the lower grade on your record. I'd petition the prealgebra teacher to take the class next semester based on your circumstances. If you have to, take an add/drop form to the first day of class and talk to the teacher or even better, email the dean and/or future teacher on the situation.

Something had been irritating my eye for like two days, and last night it got so bad that I couldn't sleep well, so this morning I look in the mirror and my eye was super red and it hurt, and I could see an eyelash near the inside corner of my eye. I spent like 20 minutes trying to get it out, before I realized that it was attached to my eyelid. What the hell, body? You grew a forking eyelash on the inside of my eyelid, TOUCHING MY EYEBALL? I had to pull my eyelid inside-out and put tweezers *thisclose* to my eyeball to get it. My eye feel so much better now, though.

Holy shiitake, Poopie! I've never even heard of that. It's kind of awesome though. I hope your eye feels better!

I know, I didn't even know it was possible! That was a dick move, eye.

the lashes on my left eye grow weird, and sometimes the upper and lower lashes get tangled and the lower ones get pulled in toward my eyeball every time i blink. that'll happen for a day or two, and then it stops. this just started happening over the past year or so. good work, body. this is an excellent complement to that one gray hair that shoots straight up in the air.

Mike told me last night that his dad and stepmom are coming round tonight and we're having dinner with them at Pizza Express. But his dad had eye surgery recently, and the weather is shiitake, so he might have to bail. So I'm not sure if they're coming or not, and if they are, when they'll be here. Or if they'll want to come up to the flat (his wife hasn't seen it). The flat is a bit untidy, but I don't want to run around cleaning if they're not coming. Also, shiitake, I just realised that I haven't wrapped the Xmas presents. Ugh. I wish Mike would've given me at least another day's notice.
