The head of service and one of the senior managers bought presents for me and my line manager to thank us for our work over the year. I don't know what he got, but they were a bit anxious about mine which made me wonder what to do if it was something non-vegan, but it was dark chocolate Christmas tree shapes I can eat! Makes a change, as normally the only thing the HoS ever brings in is all-butter shortbread.

Yesterday I had dinner at a vegan restaurant and then I got this gift from my best buddy: and somehow I was genuinely shocked that it was JK Rowling's new(ish) book. D'oh!

We had a big windstorm yesterday that broke off a bunch of big branches from our trees. And none of them fell on the house or anyone's car. Huzzah!

I remembered how much I love Mr8. He's kind, funny, intelligent, geeky, sexy and brilliant. I couldn't hope for a better partner.

I got a job! I will most likely be teaching in the Bay Area for the next two years. So much happiness and relief going into the holidays.

I just feel really good today! Things just went really well- sold some college books (got $95 bucks I wasn't expecting!), hung out with Mom, slept the fork in like a boss, chatted with work crush, who was cute and talkative and feeling daring enough to suggest we spend the day together at the mall real soon. And I wore a bow all day! I think that might've been why things were good.

yesterday i bought myself a cute nightgown. kind of like a sundress. it is now 315pm and i am still wearing my pajamas. now if i can just avoid work for the next +/- three weeks, I can spend the entire vacation in my new pajamas.

Potluck at work!
Of course, not everything was vegan...but there were vegan samosas with 2 sauces, homemade jars of salsa (sooo good) with chips, gingered rice, and a salad made by my new cubicle buddy with mixed greens, kiwis, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, cranberries, edamame beans...I am so stuffed. And my boss made a rum cake which she told me does not contain eggs or dairy! I believe her. No one here is the spiteful type that would lie about that.

Crappy day. Back hurt, cramps, pms, stolen iced tea, long asparagus drive home, ungrateful stupid crasshole students who must bitched that I made cupcakes instead of buying them all pizza like the other teacher. Why did I bother? It's not like they even do any of their work or anything. (my first class was sweet and thanked me and enjoyed them and wished me a happy holiday and turned in some of their work. They are good kids.)
Then, I came home to DONUTS. My mom made them whole I was driving home. They are SO GOOD. First time, we used the Chloe recipe. Those were ok, but these ones are amazing! They used EnerG, which we usually avoid. Maybe this was the vegan yum yum recipe, not sure. But they came out of the donut maker gizmo thingy and taste kinda sorta like a cross between cake do its and fried donuts.
How can anyone have a bad day when there are donuts?
