I haven't read a lot of crime books at all but I've liked the true crime ones I've read. Please report back!

Most of the mythology stuff I've read is Greco-roman, Egyptian, etc. I'll look into it though.

I ordered On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King. I'm so excited to read it!

Columbine by Dave Cullen, because Vantine mentioned it in the school shooting thread.

My boyfriend is rereading some of his Columbine stuff. He made a school shooting movie 7 years ago and has been intrigued by this subject.


Has anyone read any Chelsea Handler books? Anyone like 'em?

Report back! I used to be a huge Stephen King fan, I like his older stuff a little better than his newer stuff.

I read Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang and thought it was pretty stupid. It was a series of supposedly true stories about her life but they were so obviously exaggerated for effect that I didn't enjoy it at all. Totally James Frey style "memoir." I get that it's supposed to be comedy, but I guess I just don't really like her style.

I'm reading Sister by Rosamund Lupton right now.

i read this one by ray bradbury, it was so inspiring and wonderful.

Hahaha, I started it but never finished (school got in the way), but the first part of the book he talks about his childhood and this really gassy babysitter he had, I figured that's why he thought the farts and shiitake weasels in Dreamcatcher would be scary.

I Shall Not Hate by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish.

My Christmas reading needed a book on the power of forgiveness. This book is also about the grassroots solutions for peace.

I will pass. I want to like her but at times while watching her show, when she looks into the camera I want to punch her. Sometimes when comedy tries to hard it fails!

I just started Alice's Adventures In Wonderland. My boyfriend got me a beautiful bind up of Lewis Carroll books....so happy right now:)

I'm about halfway through The Casual Vacancy... it's alright. I'm keeping an open mind because I knew it wouldn't be anything like HP. We'll see how the second half is.

I was a crazy kid who loved the old testament. I even drew family trees. I don't know what was wrong with me. I think I just really loved those thin pages.

I know most of the stories but I never read the bible before, not even in bits longer than a page, so it's interesting. So far it's definitely easier to read than the qu'ran

I just finished The Stranger's Child. I loved it, but it was also incredibly frustrating because of the way it was written. I want to *know* the things/people that were merely hinted at! I wish it was twice as long and filled in the gaps (though that might make it less interesting, I don't know). This is another that I'd definitely recommend.

OMG I was forking TERRIFIED of the shiitake weasels! Seriously, even when I watched the film after I'd read it, I was freaking out. I mean, I think farts are pretty funny but when King wrote about it, shiitake got real.

I know exactly what you mean! I loved it, but really wanted an "appendix" at the end to tell me which of the many points of view was "true".

I feel like I read more books today than the rest of the year

Attentat (Nothomb);
and a novel by Isabelle Alonso named Mom;

OMG. ATGIB is my most favorite book ever. I still have my copy that my folks gave me as a gift when I was a pre-teen. Adore that book. I re-read it every year or two.

After you read the book, go find the black and white movie. Admittedly, I don't remember if I loved or hated the movie (only because I prefer films not to take creatively liberties with the story from the book). Now I'm going to have to see if my indie rental store carries it!
