there are so many options now. soy, coconut, pumpkin, earth balance, silk, more. what's your favourite and why?

I like Silk.

But more so I like this one:

Since I was making it to avoid soy I made it with almond milk and instead of "nondairy whipping cream". I used 1 whole can (14 oz) of coconut milk instead of the creamer and add enough almond milk so that the liquid still totals 5 cups. I also added 1/4 cup of sugar because I didn't think it was nearly as sweet as real eggnog. (Health vegans - don't judge me - it's eggnog! And it's still got to be better than drinking raw eggs!) And there's a typo in the recipe - that should be 1 BOX (I think it's like 3.4 oz.) of instant pudding powder, not 1 oz. This recipe is freaking delicious and it's my new go-to nog. And who doesn't love the idea of drinking pudding? Nom.

I like the Silk one, but haven't been able to find it this year for some reason. I tried the So Delicious coconut one and I really liked it. (I've never had real eggnog so I have no idea if it tastes similar, but it was yummy anyway. It's really thick and rich.) I tried the Earth Balance one and thought it was kinda gross. It tasted really strongly of soy, and had this weird aftertaste. I don't know if I got a bad bottle or what, but I think I'm going to end up tossing it.

I tried a sample of the Earth Balance one at Whole Foods yesterday and wasn't impressed. It didn't taste like much? I'm glad I got to try it and didn't buy a whole carton.

the westsoy stuff is pretty good. probably my favorite. (vitasoy used to be my favorite, but they stopped distributing it in america, and the westsoy stuff reminds me very much of vitasoy.)

so delicious is too coconutty, earth balance is too bland and silk is a bit too watery, but has the best flavor of the three. i'll pick up a box of westsoy today and let you know if it holds up to what i remember.

I think Earth Balance is my favorite. It has the best thick/creamy texture. I agree that it's a little bland, but sometimes I add some nutmeg to the carton and shake it up.

Silks was good, but theyre on the shiitake list because their parent company supported anti prop 37 (fork Dean Foods too)....luckily the So Delicious Coconut Nog is way killer

The So Delicious Coconut milk one is my favorite. Some of the coconut flavor comes through, so it's lighter than what I remember dairy eggnog was. It's still pretty rich though. Good spices.

The So Delicious is my favorite too. At my parents' house, I only have access to Silk Nog, so I am drinking it and like it. I wasn't a fan of the EB Nog.

I made this yesterday and I'm drinking it now. I used coconut milk in place of the whipping cream because it's all I had. It definitely tastes coconutty. I like coconut, so I think it's super delicious, but I want to try it again in the future and follow the recipe exactly, because I think it would taste more "nog-y" without the coconut.

I find that I'm less sensitive to the coconut flavor than some people. Glad you're enjoying it. I just had a glass - cheers! The last time I made it the coconut milk didn't mix in well... It stayed looking long of grainy with just quaking it to mix. A trip thru the blender solved it. Fyi in case anyone tries it w coconut milk and runs into this issue.

We have an almond Nöel Nog up here. It's alright, taste-wise, but it seems like it's marketed/made for people looking for a lighter eggnog. It's pretty thin. I would really prefer a small (creamer-sized) carton of super thick luscious vegan nog. Bah! I haven't seen the Vitasoy one though.

I had been thinking of getting Silk but hadn't realized their prop 37 connection, so thanks for mentioning it. I'd never tried their nog anyway so I went with So Delicious and it was fine. I barely remember what egg nog should taste like. At least one of my omni friends thought it was a better option than traditional egg nog because of the grossness of mixing eggs and dairy with alcohol etc., not to mention the other rich foods.

About the only thing I'd say about So Delicious is that the alcohol tended to separate a bit. I had to stir vigorously to mix the rum in.
