I was helping one of my special ed students pass out her presents for various teachers today and she got us little gifts from Lush -awesome. When she handed me mine, it had a little "vegan" tag on it. I mentioned once to her mom that I didn't eat meat and I thought it was so sweet that she did that for me.

It's Friday and the last day of my 12-days-in-a-row work week. I got a cool piece of furniture for christmas and it makes me happy.

Some of the support staff got me a nice Lush gift card. They later told me I was the only attorney in the office they bought a gift for - it made me feel loved.

Laughing with my dad about my grandma saying, "There's bags of air!" She was very impressed with Amazon's packaging.
Second thing--we went to Legal Seafood, and it wasn't miserable! Plus it made my dad really happy. (For a fish restaurant, they do have a tasty veg option, but I'm not always in the mood for it. Also was able to find one of their wines on Barnivore to confirm it was vegan. Pinot Gris!

Seeing Corin Tucker just hanging out at a comedy show that I got into for free. This has been a good week for me in terms of leaving the house, which I don't do that often.

IMG_8816 by Sister Legumes, on Flickr Apricot/almond scone and a soy mocha. I rode my bike to my favorite place to get coffee and pastries. The sun came out (this is a big deal, as I live in Oregon), and I could feel its warmth for the first time since probably October. Also I read a bit of Kurt Vonnegut's most recently released works, which is just a collection of letters he wrote to friends and acquaintances and it rules.

The class I was so worried I'd fail yesterday is my only class grades are posted for so far-- and I passed. With a B! Not even a B-. A genuine middle of the road B. I am so relieved.

I'm still holdin out hope my best thing will be my 'date' (or whatever) tonight BUT, for now! My work had 'ugly holiday sweater day' and instead of remotely doing that I did 'handsome holiday blazer', dude, my outfit was so good. Someone will be emailing me a picture soon, and I'll show you. I had SO many people come up to me and compliment me. Even strangers. One lady said 'I looked just like the best kind of christmas', someone else said I looke like a wonderful dapper present. It was super.

I got the most awesome idea for a crochet project for one of my best friends. I've been trying to come up with the perfect gift for this friend for months now, and I finally hit on the most amazing idea and I've been working on this project all day and my friend is going to be so happy when ze gets it...and I'm just feeling so happy that I have this friend in my life and that I have a thing that I can do that will bring my friend as much joy as this gift will.

At my GED faculty meeting, almost everybody was wearing a Christmas sweater, Christmas turtleneck, plus Christmas pins and Christmas earrings. One woman had all of that plus a Christmas vest. I thought I missed the memo, but, nope--that's how they dress in December. Is this the fate of all retired teachers?
I was wearing all black, with dark purple lipstick and nail polish. And didn't eat dinner because of the whole vegan thing, which they still don't understand after a year and a half. Normally I bring my own food, but I didn't have time last week, so it was obvious I wasn't eating and all 11 of them had to comment on that. They are all very nice, dont get me wrong, but it was annoying.

So happy about your grade C&S! I can't imagine being in school and having a wee baby. You're such a rock star!
My best thing was donating so many gently used and new toys (raised from different Mom's groups) to my friends 501 (c)(3) that will go directly to needy families in Jersey City. We had a car full of nice things, and I love thinking that another family is going to feel lucky to get them. I get so caught up in materialism this time of year and I wish we had more money, so remembering how much we have, that we get to donate and make things better for others is a real blessing.

I have tickets to see Kyary Pamyu Pamyu on 13 February at the O2 Islington (which is now sold out)!! I'm so happy! I'm going to make a new dress and learn some dance moves. Mr8 will probably stand at the bar throughout the show with a coke and laugh because of my dancing and jumping about like a little kid on sugar.
Kyary daisuki!!!

A Conversation at the cemetery.
Drove to Amsterdam for a vegan brunch, drove on to the grave of my mum and to another cemetery to the grave of the gf/wife of a friend I haven't had contact with in the last 15-20 years.
When I left the cemetery there were two people waiting for me; wanting to know who that stranger was at their sisters grave. We had a conversation about that so now I know more about the divorce and how she died. They even gave me the address where the friend now lives even though they don't have contact with him.
In total 240 miles in 40-50F weather on the motorbike really makes me appreciate my heated jacket.

Today someone I really care about and have been really worried about for a while asked me for help and we're figuring out some options for her together and I'm pretty relieved because just watching her self-destruct has been difficult.
