J dub I promise you it gets better. I do remember questioning going back to the hospital, crying that they made me worse, etc. I couldn't move without my husbands help. I screamed out in pain constantly. It was horrible. By day 3 or 4 it was gone completely and I was only taking Tylenol. Big hugs and much sympathy!

On Christmas Eve I have to go deal with my annoying relatives for several hours. They are having ham (blech) and were planning on serving me a plain baked potato. So I am going to cook my own meal and bring it with me. The best part is that they put my mom in charge of dessert and she just bought a pre-made cookie platter. I'm bringing homemade cookies and pumpkin pie for me, and everyone else will be eating store bought cookies. Ha!

Nothing shows the true test of who your good friends are as when you start crossing off people to bring xmas cookies to....so you have more for yourself

I hate my dad's family so much.

He sent his two sisters nice boxes of Godiva chocolate (the $40 nicely wrapped boxes, so not trivial) for Christmas. They were delivered a week ago. Did either of them call? No, of course not. They are self-absorbed hags.

There is no weird relationship or baggage. My dad was the baby of the family. No animosity. They are just unpleasant people. Two of his brothers have died in the past few years and I think it's just important to him to reach out.

I'm crying right now because my mom just told me that when the phone rings, my dad is racing to pick up. He never answers the phone. I feel so bad for him. I wish I could call these two and bisque them out good. They didn't treat him well at his mothers funeral either; he was basically invisible since they tend to ignore/exclude whatever is out of their usual, small existences.

I understand this. When I was in college, especially before I got my night job, my grocery budget was $20/ month. I still threw out those checks. I might be materialistic selfish bisque, but I still can't be bought.

This makes me so sad. I know not everyone is buddy buddy with their siblings but I can't imagine treating my brothers like that. Or how sad I'd be if they did that to me. Hugs to your dad :\

I don't know if I can explain the anger I felt from realizing he sent me a card. I thought about throwing it away without opening it but I figured I'd at least read what he wrote. I don't want anything to do with him or his money. I'm his only child and I'm not letting him even a little bit ever again.

I have to make a pecan pie, a red velvet cake, and a dozen cinnamon rolls (to rise overnight and bake in the morning) before I can go to bed tonight. What have done so far? Made the pie dough. That's it.

On the bright side: poopiebaby went to bed BEFORE 9pm and without a fight for the first time in three days, so at least now I can actually get some shiitake done (knock on wood).

Could it possibly be that they don't open them until Christmas? I never open presents until the day, so if it was me I'd have just shoved them under the tree, and would open and then phone thanks on the day itself.
