The dogs got squeaky Santa toys and a puzzle (that didn't sell at the shelter yard sale, so I got it for free... don't tell the dogs!) and Tegan got a Taggies blanket because she is super into tags. It is Tegan's first Christmas with us, so I wanted to capture it on video. She was really excited!
The guinea pigs aren't really interested in anything they can't eat or sleep inside/on top of. They already have tubes and tents so they got pieces of banana as a treat.
Lexie got a christmas tree teddy and a rawhide bone. The bone is already buried in the back yard and the teddy is currently being used as a pillow by her while she is napping.
Wallace got a squeaky snowman toy. He took it outside to introduce to the rest of his toys and left it there. Picky pup. Watching him unwrap his parcels is always the best part of Christmas :)

I used to get a stuffed toy for my dog to destroy every Christmas, because that's how she "plays" with toys. But then I started thinking that encourages her to destroy random things around the house - gloves, flip flops, stuffed animals... not that it happens often but I decided not to encourage it. Also now that I have 2 dogs the new Sheltie gets super territorial about toys, and dogfights ensue. So there's not really any dog toys around here. It's kind of sad. :( They got some special holiday flavored treats and busy bones - which they will have to be separated to enjoy, again, to avoid jealous fights!
Chester and Ginger both got stockings full of tennis balls, stuffed toys (mostly already destroyed), squeaker toys, and mom got them some gross butcher bones which they promptly had their first real fight over.

Nothing. We didn't get the birds anything. I didn't get Molly anything.
Birds are no fun at all. They get their excitement from routine and don't enjoy special occasions. They sit and stare at us loke we are all nuts, then go back to preening their butts. Maybe next year we can rent a dog?

Nacho got an extra yuckalicious breakfast. The bird got a nice slice of apple, and an impromptu dance session when I inadvertently played Rock Lobster before when I was cooking.

My cat got a toy and she conquered/was over it in less than three minutes, as per usual with her. We should have gotten her a membership to the mensa society, seriously.

I just helped poor Basko do the dog puzzle. He has never been able to figure out food puzzles, even super easy ones like this one. Tegan is a whiz at them, so she did this one in about 3 seconds. When Tegan was in her crate, I took Basko and showed him how to knock over the pegs to get the food underneath. He was SO happy when he figured out how to do it himself. His tail was wagging so hard and he wanted to do it over and over again. He just looked so proud of himself.

this is belle's first christmas with us. she doesn't play with toys, she's definitely more food-motivated so she got lots of special treats. my dad got hr a backpack for summer adventure times. the cats got a couple squeaky mouse toys and a nylabone treat puzzle thing. ab is totally uninterested and while jack seems to understand what to do, he loses interest pretty quickly. i think maybe i need softer treats in it.
i keep wondering whether belle would like one of those wooden puzzles. she loves finding treats, but i think she might lose interest if it's not something she would understand really easily.

The cats got a cat bed and some special wet food. They're all over the bed. I'm thinking about picking up another one because they like it so much.
The dog loves rawhide, so he got a rawhide wreath and a giant rawhide candy cane. He's very excited but is getting a bit too aggressive/territorial with the cats, who he thinks are trying to steal his stuff (they're not).

We didn't have time to get our cats anything for Christmas this year - planning on a new thing for scratching but haven't picked it up yet. While we were opening our own stockings, Beebee sat in front of us and just stared silently like we were the worst cat parents in the world.

the pups each got a chew toy called a tizzy. we realized they didnt have any good dental type chew toys since we took the old nylabone dinos they had away (apparently they are on the doggie dental no-no list). Marty (aka Capt No Fun) occasionally had fits of insane fun with it running around chasing it and he even TUGGED ON IT which was insane since he's never tugged anything since we've had him. then 5 seconds later he would go back to hurrumphing all of us.
Willy chewed on his for a bit. he doesnt get toys at all. there are several theories about his early puphood ranging from taken away from the litter too soon to being a singleton. he also was clearly never socialized and never had a home til us so toys just baffle him.
we didnt buy anything for the pigs but i gave them a bunch of parsley and then later cilantro when i was cooking so they were happy.

i dont think their brains are big enough to recognize hay is a constant factor in their life so even a big new pile of hay is a celebration for these guys

They all got baths after going nearly 3 months...then they all got furminated after going nearly the same amount of time without...now they are soft, cuddly, and don't smell like they've been rolling in deer poop for a few hours. yay!
oh and they got fat on extra treats yesterday :)

my cat is too old to give a crepe about anything now, but i used to get her and all my parents' cats treats and catnip toys and wrap them really loosely in tissue paper so they could open presents with us. our dog was basically a garbage truck and would devour anything she could fit into her mouth, but when we gave her snacky things for christmas she never ate them. i don't know how, but she knew they were different. we gave her a big chewy wreath on her first or second christmas with us, and we thought it would be gone in seconds, but she carried it in her mouth all morning, walking up to everyone in the room with her tail wagging to show it to them, and then she buried it in a plant.
i miss pet christmas. this must be how parents feel when their kids get too old for santa.

That video was super cute! I dint get my kitties anything, actually. I don't normally get them stuff for Christmas, specifically, I just pick up stuff when I see it through the year. Awww....I love hearing about (and seeing!) your pets Christmases though.
