Could have done with a better way of getting rid of the Snowmen et al than the slightly vom-inducing 'a whole family crying on Christmas Eve' bit. But hey, it's a Dr Who xmas special- gotta get a bit of schmaltz in somewhere.

And that's my random thoughts of the day.

My 12 year old is going back through all the old Doctor Who's on netflix so, and I quote, "I can be a proper fan of the show."

Needless to say I am very proud.

Listen, guys. I haven't seen the Christmas special, so I'm not reading everything posted above me, but I just wanted to say that my new guy friend from England, who hates Dr. Who because he is crazy, told me that he knows Matt Smith. Whaaaaat?

But really, apparently they went to the same school and played football together or something. No one else I know is nearly as geeked out by this as I am. Please geek with me.

PS: my English husband doesn't like Doctor Who either because he is also crazy.

He tells me that English people don't really like all the things we (Americans) think they like. I think he must be pulling my leg. At least when it comes to Dr. Who. Also, when I said that I didn't believe him and to please Call Matt Smith Right This Second, he wouldn't. But that may have been because it was something around 6 in the morning in the UK and also because they aren't in touch or anything.

But still. Brush with celebrity, people. I kind of almost feel like I've touched Matt Smith. (kidding. sort of.)

Scott (my friend) played for Notthingham Forest F.C. and they are one year apart in age, so this is most likely truthiness.

The new Christmas episode was excellent. I have to catch up on the past season. I missed several episodes, and DG missed even more of them.

Yeah, not everyone likes everything, but I know plenty of people in the UK who do like it (my sister-in-law and her husband watch Doctor Who!). There are crazy people who don't know what they're missing out on everywhere.

I was feeling really bummed out about where dr. who was headed as a show, but I really liked this, I hope they continue to pleasantly surprise me!

So I just wanted to say that the reason I was using spoiler tags to begin with was because I was posting about the newest episode before it aired in the US.

There was an episode in the late '60s where Snowmen noised it up on the London Underground. They were part of the Great Intelligence. So, prequel much?

Nae need tho. It's been well established that once it airs in the UK it's fair game. In this particular thread, anyway. i wouldn't dream of randomly bombing into other threads and revealing shiitake, just as I didn't tell poopie what happened on fb (ok, i said it was awesomes, but that's no spoiler and anyway she was trying to steal my teevee license. The ruddy nerve!)

I thought they were Yeti controlled by the Great Intelligence in the 60's? Either way, this was definitely meant to be a prequel to how the Great Intelligence got going (and learned to navigate the Underground?).

I watched it online because I don't have a channel that airs it here so I never have any idea when it actually airs live. I tried posting about it on FB but I didn't want to spoil it for all of my US friends so I came here, haha.

oooohooooooh! Last years' xmas special is on teevee. When was that set? The 1940s? The wee boy is talking about an Uncle Digby. Digby was the name of the wee boy that was Clara's charge in this episode (late 1800s?) OOOOOHOOOOOOHHHHH.

I love trying to connect dots in Doctor Who (and sometimes the spin-offs).

You can't really tell from the photos but if you go back and watch the episodes, you can see they're the same glove. Although, I think this is less about connecting the dots and more about them reusing props. Still cool!

Indeed. There's a joke about how the BBC has 7 actors, 12 props, and 3 house sets.
