Found a shiitake ton of Almond Nog in a grocery store near my parents and am discovering the wonders of whizzing it up with a bit of avocado and bourbon.

The IRS was like, "You owe us $1000" and I was all, "Nuh uh, you're wrong" and they were like, "Oops, our bad, you don't owe us anything, have a nice day."

I was going to stay in and mope tonight because of reasons but instead suggested to best friend and brother that we go to a bar where they have cheap vegan-friendly food. Then three people magically became seven people and we ended up having a pretty great night, and developing possibly-awesome-New-Years-plans. Yay not moping!

Took Chester to the vet where he was loved and adored by many and then the vet said he was super healthy looking, crystal clear eyes and teeth that looked like I brushed them twice a day (...I don't ever? brush his teeth). And then his flea/heartworm stuff was cheaper than I was expecting!

my spouse and i had the day off together. it feels like it has been forever since our last day off together. our day consisted of: Skyfall (so good!), a Whole Foods shopping trip, sweet 'n sour broccoli for dinner, watching Red State (also so good!) on the couch with the pup, and potato cakes with green onions, shallots, sriracha, and tempeh bacon for breakfast. today's been a ridiculously good day!

I delivered some food to my friend's house for a party he's having tonight, he always dresses for parties in the most amazing drag ever, and tonight was no exception. Seeing him decked out as his alternate persona just makes me happy. Then he gave me more money than we had agreed on!

My partner got to bring the kitten they fell in love with at the shelter the other day home today! They have the biggest, tenderest heart, especially for human babies and animals (and baby animals, obviously!), and they were so excited last night that they could hardly sleep. Seeing them with this kitten today, who they've bonded with so much so quickly, was so lovely and heartwarming.
I really miss having cats in my life, but right now isn't the right time for me to adopt, so it's nice that I get to have a kitten to visit regularly. I had some lovely kitten snuggles today! (See the user image thread).
Today was also great because my friend and I are running our pop-up shed cafe again for the summer, and this week (our fourth week), we actually ran out of food and had a really good turnout! So nice!

Seriously, you guys, how do I even cope with the cuteness of these two? I am so happy that they found each other.

Couple of awesome things:
- the dr. thinks the "complications" following my molar extraction are finally over, so not only am I pain (and painkiller) free, I finally feel like the wound is healing, huzzah! - appetite is back! woo! I've lost 10lbs so far not eating in the last fortnight+ (I still don't want to chew, but smooth soups and squooshed veggies finally sound good again) - in lieu of repairing my heavy and expensive-(for-me-)to-fix bike, an awesome bike dude let me trade it in for a super sexy aluminium framed hybrid - I'm still not brave enough to talk (jaw stuff :( ) but skyped with mom and grandma last night; they took turns telling me stories, and grandma was extra cute.

Wow, lutin--didn't realize how much trouble you were having. So glad you're on the up and up. I wish I could do my Godfather pudding cup impression for you. (After wisdom teeth extraction and pain killers, I kept asking my mom to open my pudding cup, but in a Godfather voice. Maybe it's not so funny after all...
Also, gunk! Best ever!

I don't have to do anything today except go grocery shopping, which I enjoy doing, and maybe pack up some books to take to the new place tomorrow. I have a goal to only go over there if I have a load of stuff in my car to take up. Right now I don't have any boxes, but reusable grocery bags make great book carriers.
Yay, day off!

Also! I just ordered duvet covers from Ikea since they ship most of their linens! This is a big deal, because I have been living with an old, torn, yellowed duvet cover for a couple years now (and lately, no duvet cover at all, so my duvet is only covered in...dog and cat hair) because the ones I see at Target at are, like, $60, which seems ridiculous. So for that price, including shipping, I was able to get two new and awesome duvet covers from Ikea. Woo!
