Disclaimer - I copyedited this book.

Amber's book just came out and it looks pretty interesting. Most of the recipes can be made using the oven if you don't have a dehydrator. The desserts look amazing and there's a whole chapter of kale chips!

Hey! How vegan-friendly is this book? I notice the author's blog is "almost vegan," so should we expect to see some cheese or honey in the recipes? Or is cheese a raw food? I am "raw curious," but clearly don't know the first thing about it.

Book is completely vegan! As far as I know, some raw foodists do consume honey and maybe even raw milk (?), but the book is vegan.

I love the taco salad in this book. The "meat" if really hot though. This time I cut the cayenne pepper and added half a jalapeno instead of a whole one and it still gives a lot of mouth burn. The nacho cheese sauce was really good.

thanks for the tip. i've heard (and i may be mistaken) that raw diets typically have a lot of nuts in them. i am allergic to all nuts. do amber's recipes call for lots of nuts? i admit, i am raw curious ;)

raw diets can be nut heavy but i find doing all that stuff throws me off. if i just think juices/smoothies/salads/raw whole foods then it isn't very nut heavy at all, unless i make something dessert like.

I will have a look for you tomorrow at the rest of the recipes. This one gives a lot of substitutions so I will see if they work for you.
