Wow that is early! I haven't got my tester notes here but there's a really excellent seitan kebab with a yoghurt sauce. Don't know the exact name.

So far, tried the Thai-Centric Creamy Mac and the Old Bay Cakes. The mac is good, but I wouldn't really make it expecting anything like macaroni and cheese. It's just an oniony/peppery/coconutty pasta with some nooch thrown in.
The old bay cakes are awesome though. I'd recommend making like 8 smaller ones, even though the book says 4-6. I made 6, and a couple that were barely bigger than the rest fell apart.

Let's see...off the top of my head... (haven't gotten my copy yet, & will update when it gets here)
penne with vodka sauce panzanella spiced bread (actual title is in French) apple crumble cinnamon date scones mushroom pate macaroni salad chocolate chip cookies (that my friends stole because they thought they were so good)
Efcliz, I think you mean the seitan kabobs with smoky yogurt dipping sauce?

I made the Indian shepherd's pie last night with the curried cabbage from AFR. Super tasty, and the whole meal was only 12 WW points for a huge plate of food. I never understand how anyone manages to make the potatoes a perfectly smooth layer on these things though. I always end up smearing messy at random, because the filling always wants to stick to the potatoes when I try to spread it.

Kelvia, that's right, thanks.
I made that Indian shepherd's pie not knowing that my husband and his (omni and living in America) brother were about to turn up the day after their Dad died. I was stressed about serving tempeh to an omni but they both said it was just they wanted, comfort food, yet with a hint of spice.

I'm making the jambalaya right now, and it smells so forking ridiculously good.
Why isn't anyone else posting?! This book is pretty awesome.

I just ordered this book today with an Amazon gift card (along with Vegan Holiday Kitchen) and I'm really looking forward to using it! I already have The Urban Vegan, and if this book is the same caliber it should have some great stuff in it.

My only issue is that the recipes aren't really organized by type. They're organized by occasion. All the food has been good as shiitake though.

My advice is to drop everything you're doing right now, and to make the spicy seitan wings with the harissa sauce. I made that five times in five days. It's so easy, and just incredibly delicious.

I made the New Year's Day menu: hot and sour lentils, soba noodles, hoppin' john. It's super filling and healthy with so many beans, vegetables, and colors!
Also vin chaud and mushroom gravy, both of which were yum even though I typically hate mushrooms.

I've made the fajitas two weeks in a row. I use a package of sliced criminis, an entire bell pepper, & add shredded carrot if I have it. I also sauté in water, which means it is a super-filling, plant strong (Eat to live) meal. I serve it with the Mexican slaw from healthy girl's kitchen blog.

I just made the Indian Shepherds Pie again but just using a combo of what veg needed using - some broccoli, courgette and a bit of carrot. A very flexible idea for slightly spicy comfort food.

I'm bumping this thread to rave about the Old Bay Cakes again. I made a double batch and ate like half of them since last night, with Vegenaise tarter sauce. greasy delicious goodness.
I also made the balsamic baked beans. Holy good! I'm not really a fan of traditional baked beans, but these were great. They did get a little dry, so I'd recommend covering them in the oven.
