As an update to the Bulldog discussion earlier, their website says they don't use any animal ingredients and they're all half price at Sainsbury's at the moment.

I have wicked itchy scalp eczema in Winter, plus floopy fine hair. I use Faith in Nature shampoo - I tend to grab either rosemary or seaweed depending on what's in stock - and during serious outbreaks I add about 10 drops of pure lavender oil to the full bottle before shaking the crepe out of it. Takes a few uses but it's awesome (and eco friendly!).

Anyone know where you can get hurraw lip balms over here? I've found them on amazon but they're £4.50 ish each plus almost 3 quid shipping! eh.

Pretty sure that was the site I bought them from without any trouble. I wasn't keen on them though, to thin a consistency and didn't really stay on my lips for long enough.

I swear by lush Ultrabalm, I put it on at bedtime every night and it keeps my lips really soft, I would have trouble with cracked lips during the winter without it.

Oh yeah, when I said the Samy shampoo and conditioner was aggravating my psoriasis I didn't realise it was also the cause of a massive outbreak of acne on my back. I thought my hormones had gone bonkers. But no, it was getting worse and worse, the spots were huge painful red things that were popping (sorry!) by themselves, it was almost like blistering. When my skin started tighten and burn I realised it was the Samy conditioner that I was still using (to finish the bottle). I don't know what the hell they did to their formula but that's forked up. Mr Fez is a chemist guy, he's going to have a nosy at the ingredients and see what could have caused it. I won't be using them again, but I'm still curious.

Just got an email this morning that may be relevant - big green smile website are doing 25% off faith in nature shampoos at the moment, including the huge 5litre containers. There's also 25% off a bunch of FIN skincare and other veg friendly stuff. I buy most of my cleaning supplies from them - really good customer service.

Can anyone recommend a decent nail varnish remover? I have a Superdrug one and it's utter crepe. It takes about an hour to get varnish off and if there's even a hint of glitter, forget it. It'd be quicker to let the glitter on my toe nails grow out than take it off with this.

Is it a non-acetone one? I have that too and I hate the smell of it, it forking stinks!! Nubar's cucumber remover is great if you want one without acetone. Otherwise try one with acetone in. I'll check what brand mine is when I get home, that shiitake takes of anything! I think it would strip car paint.

Although glitter is still tricky. If you have glitter polish on and you have 10 minutes spare, put some polish remover on a pad, then put it on your nail and wrap your nail in foil so it stays on nice and tight. Then leave it 10 minutes. Should come off a bit easier.

Can anyone recommend any kind of intensive hand stuff? Not hand cream as such, but more like a face mask for hands. Does such a thing even exist? I just looked down at my hands in a meeting and thought I was my Nan.

The superdrug's own hand lotions and balm are great, I get pretty dry skin on mine (and they're showing my age these days!). If you combine them with cotton gloves in bed or even when at the computer, it can give your hand a really good home treatment.

yes, seconded. They have a range especially for dry skin!

Do they sell the gloves too, do you know?

I third the Superdrug range. My hands get so dry the skin splits and bleeds, and that stuff sorts me out in a couple of days. (I can't answer the question about gloves, though.)

I dunno about the gloves. I am ghetto, I'd probably wrap them in clingfilm! haha

They should do, they're usually available in boots etc. If you have trouble finding them lemmie know, I can keep an eye out for a pair and bung 'em in the post, I usually see them all sorts of places.

Thanks for the kind offer. I found some in Boots. While I was in Superdrug getting the hand cream I noticed that Vit E range is buy 2 save £1, so I bought the cream i normally buy and a new shimmer body lotion, which seems to be lovely.

Superdrug have a new range of skincare + make-up. There's a bit about it on their here and here. I looked at a few of the skin care products in a store I was in yesterday (Oxford Road in Manchester) and all the ones I checked were suitable for vegans.

I'll be going straight to stage 3 with the anti-ageing cream for my Mr Burns neck.

I had a look for that but it hasn't reached Stoke yet. Maybe in about 5 years.

It has the standard Superdrug labelling (suitable for vegetarians and vegans), even the same typeface and formatting, so I'm guessing it's owned by them?

Awesome. I can never be arsed to buy make up because you have to go online & research & see if the thing you might want is vegan so this is perfect. I figured it might be a Superdrug brand because of how they've been promoting it.
