T. and I are looking to do this trip in 2013. Neither one of us has ever been to Europe, so it's pretty...exciting but nerve-wracking to think about. I'll be looking at travel books in the near future, but since you are all a well-traveled group, I thought I'd start here.
I'm obviously looking for food recommendations in all places, but also your favourite things to see (architecture/buildings, art, environmental wonders, etc). I relied on PPKadvice heavily for our recent NYC trip and it turned out perfectly.
Also, we as of yet have no idea when, but probably October 2013.

Vienna is so awesome. I grew up there (and my Dad still lives there) and I love it.

Vienna is super awesome! Go see the Klimts in person at the Belvedere, the Velasquezes at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, and everything at the MAK. Definitely hit the flohmarkt - I have the coolest old rolling pin and a beautiful chocolate fish mold that I bargained for there! Go walking in the Wienerwald if you have the time, and visit the beautiful Kartause at Mauerbach outside of Vienna.
I really liked the applied arts museum in Budapest also.

Berlin is amazing. of what I've seen, it's the vegan capital of Europe hands down, and it's full of amazing digital/interactive art (which makes me smile x10000). you'll even find vegan waffles there!

Awesome! Of the three, I've only been to Berlin. It is as great as everyone says. We stayed at a really nice hostel that had a room that was more like a hotel (private bathroom, etc.) and was super affordable. I cannot remember the name, but I could dig it up. We ate at Yoyo a lot, and as much other amazing vegan food as we could stuff in our faces. I didn't make it to Vöner and I'm still bummed.

PPK meetup? - never been to Budapest, so no opinion. - Berlin, lots of vegan food, lots of history too though mostly WW2, musea and architecture. - Vienna, I think less vegan options than Berlin, but lots of historical buildings and musea.

I was hoping someone would say the magic words, "meet-up"! Looks like I've got some travel books to get. I'm going to speak with Trevor about solidifying some dates, so that way I can let everyone know! eeeee!

And thanks for the recommendations (celyn, those are great recommendations for Vienna) cuz I really have no idea at this point what each city offers.

We'd be up for a Vienna meet up in October.

I love all of those cities so much!! I have multiple posts about Berlin & Vienna and one about Budapest in the Europe & Beyond section of my blog. I'd also be up for a meet up somewhere if it was mid-late Oct because I'll be in San Francisco for the first week or so. I think October's a lovely time to visit all of those cities! I need to get back to that part of the world, especially Vienna, ASAP!

I can't even begin to tell you about all of the vegan food in Berlin. It's crazy. There's so much! You have to get brunch at Viasko, though. It was one of the best meals I had.

Ooh! Depending on when and where and what's going on in my life at that time, I might be in for a meet up!

Make sure you visit Kopps in Berlin. It's a vegan restaurant that does their take on classic German food. Also, they do a very affordable 3-course lunch menu every day. <3

Kopps is amazing, definitely the best food I had on my entire Europe trip last year. I also loved Viasko, Lucky Leek and Vöner. I did a bit of a brief wrap-up here, but there are a couple of Australian vegetarian bloggers who wrote a lot more comprehensive stuff about Berlin here- I wished we'd seen this before we went last time! We went to Budapest as well, but it was New Year's and a lot of things were closed so we missed out on a lot of fun stuff (especially good food). The baths were awesome though, definitely a trip highlight.

Viasko's brunchs are soooo good, they're on saturday and sunday. If you go there you'll probably find me somewhere in the corner stuffing my face.

Well, a meetup or two is definitely in order! I'm going to solidify dates before the weekend, and also if anyone else has times they prefer, let me know!
