I will just remember that those from Ithaca refer to everything bagels as "Long Island bagels" including mumbles here.

The Dutch should be worried about other stuff besides Dutch oven. Namely, how "Dutch" always means bad stuff.
Dutch treat (no treat at all), Dutch uncle (a critical brow-beater), Dutch courage (alcohol-induced bravado), etc.

And if Long Islanders want to call Long Island bagels everything bagels, that's up to them! That's precisely why the analogy works so handsomely.

I lafted so hard at the Long Island bagels conversation that I forgot the weird food thing I was going to mention.
Oh wait, I remember.
What's the origin of "Viennese Table"? Which in my world means dessert buffet of a hundred things that taste bad.
ETA: Google says Viennese Table is a (perhaps bastardized pronunciation?) variant of "Venetian Table" which is a thing from real Italy (Sicily), but also that there are similar traditions/origins from Pennsylvania and Ohio. Wherever it comes from, it should stop.

If you go to a sushi restaurant in California and you just ask for a roll, do you get a California roll? Probably, right?

-never heard of a long island bagel, but have seen everything bagels - london broil and swiss steak? - I'm guessing Spanish rice is called that because it sorta kinda resembles paella - I've only heard of a Viennese hour/table from watching wedding shows on TV. "Dessert table" seems to have been adequate enough at any event I've attended
off topic, but there was a Chinese restaurant in my home town in Florida that had a big sign saying "New York Style" in it's window. Not sure what New York style Chinese food is, although I know most "Chinese food" in America is probably nothing like what people actually eat in China.

Oh I don't know how I totally forgot to mention this, but in Dutch they refer to sexual acts by natonality.
Greek or Turkish style - anal sex Russian style - tit forking French style - fellatio
I actually learned this by getting confused while reading the newspaper, which may signal additional cultural differences.
