my old roommates used to say that all i did was ride my trainer in my room and listen to death metal.
but i don't remember that, i like to workout to girl bands like le tigre, bratmobile, l7, tribe 8, the lunachicks, blatz.

Sleater-Kinney, Bratmobile, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, Caribou, and LCD Soundsystem (my favorite workout band)

Oh, best ever. I'm going to download blatz. Tonight we're gonna fork shiitake UP.

I use Pandora on my phone - I switch between Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue.

it is sort of embarrassing but I like to listen to guilty pleasure stuff while I work out. Especially terrible hip hop and radio rap. I just find it easier to work out to stuff that is essentially put together to get you pumped.

I've just started jogging and need to pace myself, so I listen to Sleater-Kinney's "Dig Me Out" through "It's Enough" and switch to Ice Cube's Greatest hits to get me through the last half mile or so (Pushin' Weight, You Can Do It). It's a funny combo but it works for me.

LOVE VNV NATION. I have a running mix that Manfriend made for me when I was about to run my first 5k from songs already in my iPod.Barry Polisar, The Coasters, Fight Like Apes, Jeremy Messersmith, Surfer Blood, Miniature Tigers, WEEN, Zombies, Chris Koza, Conor Oberst and Alvin Band all in there.

3oh!3, lady gaga, anamanaguchi...whatever is ridiculous and/or fast. but not angry. i just can't do angry music, ever, no matter how hard i need to work out.

oh, and i really like the gaslight anthem for treadmill work for some reason.

rihanna, madball, strike anywhere, ignite, dag nasty........

The requirement: Anything fast and loud. But I'm more of an O.A.R., Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews, etc. kind of person, chill but fun.
Despite all of the good music I could be listening to, my playlist is an embarrassing thing to behold: Aqua, Switchfoot, B-52's, but mostly Indian stuff my friend gave me. Ha. Turn it up!

Lately it's the Noisettes. So forking catchy.

My workout flies by when put on Aesop Rock. The kind of music I normally listen to is totally different, but I find running to rap is so much easier

Ha! YES. Me too. This is the only way I ever listen to the Blackeyed Peas. And curiously, though I could never listen to it during the day, "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba makes a decent running song too.

Otherwise, more defensibly, my running lists are a lot of punk (NOFX, Dropkick Murphys, Rancid) and Rhymesayers hiphop, especially Brother Ali and Atmosphere.

I HAVE to listen to rap or R&B, nothing else cuts it. Lately I've got Raekwon, Das Racist, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Lil Boosie, The-Dream, Kendrick Lamar, and Schoolboy Q on my playlist

Angry, heavy music! I keep my intensity up better when I return to my angry-child roots, it's really the only time I can enjoy the really heavy stuff anymore. A7X, what up! Also Gojira, Mastodon, Slayer, Amon Amarth, Mushroomhead.

I think I'm pretty weird in that, while everyone else is "keeping the intensity up," with their tunes, I'm ok with the Shins, Elliott Smith, and other slow and/or depressing shiitake. It doesn't really matter for me.

Justin Timberlake's Future Sex Love Sound album is awesome when walking/dancing on the treadmill!
