I nicked some guy's underwear at the gym and made a fortune on ebay, who knew the market in used undercrackers was so strong in this economy!

Although I am sick of working...
For xmas, my bf gave me a chair made out of the wire frame from a champagne cork (it's adorable. It's on my shelf). This was to represent that he would take me to the store and let me pick out any office chair I wanted and it would be mine. Explanation: I've been using a folding chair at a table for almost a year and a half now, and every time I sit down to do work at home, I get excrutiating back and shoulder pain because the chair was the wrong height, had terrible support, etc. So I hated working at home. A few days back, we went to Ikea and I picked out my new chair.
Today is my first day doing work in it. On the downside, my apartment is so small that where my table is, the chair JUST fits and can't be pulled out, so I have to do a silly Dukes of Hazzard style climbing in and out thing that is a bit tricky and wildly inefficient. HOWEVER. I've been sitting at my desk working for several hours and I'm still totally comfortable. No back pain. No shoulder pain. Nothing. It is SO GLORIOUS.
A lot of people poo-poo practical gifts like chairs or whatever, but screw it. I like this so much better than some expensive jewelry or something. Now every time I sit at my desk, I'll feel cared about... AND I don't feel immobilizing pain, which is super awesome.
I am so happy and relieved.

The idea that perhaps a fetishist took my underwear for his personal joy is hilarious and the best thing of my day.
I asked at the desk if some one found clothing in the men's changing room, but they said no and I didn't think of checking the garbage bin before I got home. poopiebitch wrote: fezza wrote: I nicked some guy's underwear at the gym and made a fortune on ebay, who knew the market in used undercrackers was so strong in this economy! 99% sure we get the keys tomorrow. 50/50 chance of signing tomorrow.
We got permission to move in before closing (and in writing!) so this weekend we move. And I bombard you with too many pictures.

FINALLY applied for the online certificate program I've been getting my shiitake together for for a while. (Minor downside that I missed the deadline for the spring semester, they're not offering a summer semester this year so I'm just REALLY early)
Also, crush is texting back. We're not saying anything, but it's encouraging, I think. (sorry for the downsides part of the best part of my day!)

My boyfriend presented me with a early v-day gift: tickets to see Marilyn Manson in concert! Yay, he was my high school hero! Mar (the cat) is actually Marilyn Manson but people get confused about a 15 year old boy kitty named Marilyn!
I met MM at a book signing in SF when I was 18. I am in my 30s now and feel all sorts of nostalgia!

I was super-ambivalent about buying a house, but it turned out to have been a fantastic thing, and such a relief. I'm glad you will have one less thing to worry about!!!!

I'm going to be a glass-is half-full optimist and say the best thing that happened to me today was that my car wouldn't start. It was really cold out, so I thought I'd wimp out of biking to yoga and take the car. So I left later than I would if biking only to find that my car wouldn't start. At that point I decided it was way to late to bundle up and bike so I gave up on going to yoga. As I was working on getting things done upstairs, I heard a loud crash, headed downstairs to investigate, and discovered water gushing and pooling all over my basement. I called the plumber, who talked me through shutting down the leak without shutting down all the water in the house, and will come tomorrow morning to look at things. If my car had started, I would have done my yoga class, then probably some cardio since I didn't bike, and then gone to Target, only to come home to quite the mess. So I'm glad my car didn't start this morning so I could be here to catch the leak right away!

The grocery store in this dusty pothole town sells Daiya! I hate it here, but suddenly life seems bearable. :)

I am so excited - I've finally decided what I want to do with my life - go back to grad school and get my Masters degree in Public Health with a focus on Public Health Nutrition in children. UC Berkeley has a great program, but it's apparently very difficult to get into and requires stellar GRE scores. Seeing 75lb 4-year-olds just breaks my heart and I want to do something about it.

Whoa! This: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/01/ ... pHeadlinesScience is awesome. (yes, this is a Fox News link, but they actually have a science section unlike CNN. CNN removed theirs a year or so ago.)

Since I returned to work after the Xmas holiday, I am taking walk-ins and tattooing customers now, and charging full price. I've done a walk-in every day this week, and am now building a savings fund for my Portland trip, which will take place during the warmer months of this year. I'm really excited to not be apprenticing anymore, I'm stoked to be making money, and I am so excited to go to Portland holy fork. Today I did a white ink Inukshuk. First white ink tattoo of my career, apprentice or otherwise, and it looked forking cute.
2013 is starting off so right.

New TV day!
Fred's mom gave us an unexpected, ridiculous amount of money for Christmas, so today we bought a TV. It's so big and beautiful and it's been about 4 years since either of us have had one. It's kind of weird. Now I can finally play the Wii my brother gave me when he got bored with it a few months ago. I can't wait to watch movies on a screen bigger than 13"!

First Fridays, this art/community thing in the area. Very cool, and so much to explore next time. This time I was busy eating dinner with then spending time with a Welshman in his art gallery, which was lovely.
