I'm dorking out about how good these are and need some fellow vegans to share with. These are puff pastry with almond & pinenut cheese and spicy raspberry-date chutney. I wish I could take a better photo, because they look a little pale and sad here, but they got the omni "Seriously? These are vegan?" seal of approval. ETA: Sorry the photo's so big. I changed the size in Photobucket, but I'm an idiot and can't figure out why it's still huge here.

It's my variation of the cheese ball recipe from myvegancookbook.com. I tried to link, but there seems to be a problem with the website at the moment.

High praise! I feel like cheese is one of those things where vegans are all "OMG IT TASTES LIKE THE REAL THING!!!" And omnis are all like "um no." Especially because its so hard to replicate the mouthfeel of cheese.
So hurrah for your puffs and yum for your chutney! I hope you can post the link, because this sounds like a perfect treat!

Thanks! I love all kinds of chutney, but had never made any before. I cooked it a little too long, so It's really thick, but the flavor turned out great. It was intended for some almond crusted tofu, but it was so thick, I didn't know if it would work well. Thus, it was re-purposed into last minute hors d'oeuvres.
I still can't access the website to link to the cheese recipe, so I'll dig through my files (I have it written down somewhere) and post it. It's my go-to cheese for parties. I made a log to bring to a Christmas party where I was the only vegan and it was the first thing gone.
