I made no resolutions and I continue unchanged; therefore, I am succeeding.

I didn't make resolutions so much as give myself an updated set of recommended guidelines. For example..

-Cut out carb-y food and alcohol more.
-Try to write and journal regularly.
-Ignore social media and endless internet noise so I pay more attention to my bookshelf.
-Try not to let the recluse genes become overwhelm my rational side, and actually reach out to people instead of wondering why no one talks to me.

So far, I'd give myself a cumulative 3 out of 5.

This.

I'm dealing with a breakup, and everything else is currently riding in the backseat being ignored.

But, maybe I should try some cartwheels!

This idea came from a zenhabits post sometime in 2012 I think.

i am using several things from zenhabits as reading material/journaling stuff this year. not as a resolution per se but more like just something to write about.

i also took the post in the playground about conscious parenting and am using an extract from that book for meditation/journaling- not as the word of god, but for me to think about.

@desdemona- get that revolution on the road already!!!! xo

Hugs to you, fisticuffs! I'm in BE this week if you want to meet for a drink. (No worries if you're not up for it. Just do what you need to do to take care of yourself, including cartwheels.)

I didn't make any resolutions as such, but just before NYE, I decided to try to quit smoking. I'm not a regular smoker, but have always been a social smoker who only smokes when others around me are smoking. This was fine when I was single and only went out for a drink with a smoking friend once a month or so, but now I'm with a partner who smokes and I found myself smoking a lot more when we're together (about 10 days a month). Since I'm moving to live closer to him this year, I decided I want to get out of that habit. I figured if I could give up cheese, I could give up cigarettes. I did really well when I was with him over the holidays and didn't smoke at all. Then last night we had a disagreement and were both really frustrated and I allowed myself one cigarette. I'm determined not to let it lead to more.

I also intend to practice much better housekeeping/organizational habits in the new place and I'm trying to ingrain some of those in my old place before I move. After so many decades of being a slob, I anticipate that this will be a learning process.

We're doing Dry January. We gave up yesterday and finished the Brooklyn Brewery beers that were staring at us in the fridge (just one each), but we're doing okay. The main issue is not to waste our v limited funds buying booze.

I made a quiet commitment to myself to write more, which is my plan for this afternoon.

1) Use my crock pot at least once a week. I've succeeded so far, and one of the recipes was sooooo good. (tempeh tikka masala, from some slow cooker book with vegan in the title but I forget exactly)

2) I've been wanting to take cello lessons for years, and I finally made a resolution to do it and I have my first lesson tonight!! I have no idea if I'm going to stick with it but I owe it to myself to give it a try. Would be interested to hear other people's stories of learning a new instrument as an adult!

1. Not be so hard on myself.
2. Cut out more sugar.
3. Try to be a better step parent.
4. Start exercising more.

It's a work in progress...

I love both of these resolutions so much! Keep us posted on your adventures with both please!

Pretty much as bad as you can get. I wanted to go to the gym four times a week. I've made it exactly 0.

I made some goals, they include travel more, go out more & get better at hooping.

So far I've been out to a pub with a friend, to a movie, to dinner & karaoke with my husband and his workmates, to a gig and to a charity bowling day with friends which included socialising with strangers. Normally I hibernate until about mid Jan so this is great!

I have trips booked to Edinburgh, Ireland, Spain and Portland/Seattle as well as plans to go to San Francisco in Autumn so that goals going awesomely.

Hooping? Not so much, but it's cold & my house is too small for hooping so I think that's really more of a Spring/Summer goal. I'd also love to do a cartwheel but I've never done one & I'm too scared to even write it down & make it a real goal!!

I actually look presentable today, and that's one of my goals. I don't know if I'm totally 'work appropriate' but my office is so lax that I'd really gotten to being pretty sloppy. Sadly enough one of my goals is getting out of bed and showering every day. Also on the list is cleaning up after myself and keeping my apartment neater. I definitely hear you, lepelaar! I am a life-long slob! It makes me feel so much better mentally to get myself and my place cleaned up. I just ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1452109362/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00, and I'm pretty excited about looking into it. I really want to work on myself as much as I can before Wilson comes home.
