I got this book for my birthday last week and started with the apple-tempeh puff pastry triangles tonight. OMG. They were GREAT and the dipping sauce totally made it. It was even worth dealing with pulling seeds out of a pomegranate. I did fail to read the recipe until right before dinnertime, so my "tempeh bacon" was plain tempeh simmered in a mixture of water/soy sauce/liquid smoke/maple syrup until it absorbed the water.

I just wanted to add that my husband just wandered in here and said, "those pastry doo-dads were great." Ha!

So, I made the chapatis and they were fab (but flatbread is always good in my book), and today I am making beans not on toast which we will be eating on said chapatis because I failed to realise until 11 that the waffle batter is supposed to rise 2 hrs... so. :-) The beans smell lovely! I think I'm going to add a dash of hot sauce as well.

Shawarma is next on my list, too. I think I have forgotten to mention that I made the pot pie, open-faced (can't remember the actual name) recipe and, again, amazing.

I haven't made a full sandwich yet, but I made the no cluck cutlets yesterday because I had a free afternoon. They took longer than I normally like to spend making seitan and I was kicking myself for picking a fussier recipe.
That was until I tried one and realised that they are flippin awesome!! Totally worth the extra effort. I’m glad it makes 10 too, because I have 4 in the fridge and 5 individually frozen for future meals.
Hoping that I get time this week to try the KFC style sandwiches because they sound amazing.

I really need to get into this book more. I've got the green monster bread waiting to go in the oven once my VEW jerk strips come out, but I think that's about all I made so far! Some fecker has a hold on the copy I got my local library to buy so I have to return it tomorrow, but rather than be mad I'm excited someone else wants to use it!

I don't have the book in front of me, and the amazon preview doesn't show all the recipes, so my titles will be...approximate. But I've made the green monster bread, which was amazing, the green...everything? sandwich...it's like a tofu salad with lots of green things in it, and that was mighty good as well. I liked the asian eggplant sandwich, but I think I would like it better with portobello mushrooms instead. And the retro KFC style sandwiches are so good! When I make the no-cluck cutlets, I replace some of the liquid with soy sauce, so the flavors shine a little more. Sometimes you just need a little more salt so you can taste things, you know?

Just made the kati rolls. So great and easy! I went the lazy route and bought frozen chapati -- they were $6 for 30 at the Indian market. I couldn't beat that. I also made onion pakora which are easy and yum. My friend brought my daughter home from dance and said the house smelled great.

I've still only made the bread. I make that green monster bread all the time because it's amazing. I do it in the bread machine now so it's even easier to make.
When I flip through, everything seems time consuming. Can anybody recommend a cheap recipe that can be made in under 30?
