So in theory, you could mail four boxes of cookies for $9.35, but I don't think GS cookies have as many cookies per package as Joe Joe's so they're probably lighter.
Science!

Science is more fun when cookies are involved.

USPS has "Regional Rate" Priority Mail boxes that are MUCH cheaper to send than flat rate, unless you are mailing coast to coast or to AK or HI. They'll deliver you the boxes for free, in sets of varying numbers depending on the size of the box. My local PO only carries the flat rate ones and I think it's completely stupid, because it's obviously a money making racket. The only time the flat rate boxes are worth it is if the item is REALLY heavy or you're mailing it more than 1500 miles.

Yeah, you definitely need to weigh your items first to make sure you're actually saving money, but I always find that i'm a bad judge at guessing how heavy something is. Also when I send people stuff I like to tetris the box contents like no one's business to get maximum package fullness so flat rate is almost always a good deal for me unless i'm just sending 1-2 things.

I ordered one box each of the thin mints, lemonades, and the thanks-a-lots from appifanie (thanks for doing this!!). I'm hoping I can refrain from eating them all within a week. And now that I see appifanie can take orders up until March, I'll need all my willpower to stop from ordering more once I try them!

Shipping prices vary on distance and weight. So shipping to someone a state away will be cheaper then someone across the country. Prices also go up a lot once a package goes over a pound, especially for shipping farther away. And be sure to include the weight of the shipping box into the equation. I think 2 or more boxes of girl scout cookies will end up being over a pound and thus about $9.50 and up to ship cross country. Parcel post is slower but gets a bit cheaper than priority as the weight goes up.

I stay gone for a few days and BAM you guys are full of info - thanks!! I'm trying to lazy way it too by looking online - just sent a message on FB to ABC bakers about individual box weights and sizes. I also found http://theperlmanupdate.blogspot.com/20 ... -well.html I've sent stuff flat rate before and realized after the fact I got screwed - actually the PO employees told me I was getting screwed but I didn't want to repackage. I'm going to weigh orders and calculate with zip codes and whatnot. I will also keep in mind that flat rate boxes are free, as opposed to regular boxes I would have to pay for. karichelle - I've never heard about the regional rates! That's interesting and I'll look into that too.

The regional rate boxes are free too, even if you order them online. There's no shipping cost, the postman delivers them to your door in a few days.

I was all sad because I went out looking for them yesterday, but they weren't at the store they were supposed to be at because it was raining.
Today, they came to my door. The cookies are MINE!

So did we ever figure out why the Mango Creams aren't labeled as vegan? Is it the natural flavors?
