What weird and useless things are you planning to obsess over for the new year? I am going to follow the Oprah on twitter and start angling her hashtags into my everyday speech. "We got some real #soulhappysurvivalinspiration going on today, have we not?"

my dad has given me massive quantities of origami paper on every gift-giving occasion ever since he first came to visit me in new york and spotted two origami animals on a windowsill, and i've made a quarter of it into cranes and frogs and dragons and stored the rest of it in my closet. maybe this year i will finally become properly obsessed with origami. stay tuned for many pictures of crafty beaded origami festoons.

"We got some real #soulhappysurvivalinspiration going on today, have we not?" This is going to be interesting. I will have #soulpancakes on #supersoulsunday as part of my #nextchapter. I will also create a vision board of Nicki Minaj's hair styles.

I am going to eat every single thing in my pantry and never grocery shop ever in 2013 but it's more out of necessity and poverty than anything else. Cross your fingers for no scurvy.

I don't usually plan my obsessions, they usually find me when I least expect them. I'll probably go on being obsessed with yoga, noodles, bubbly water, cute baby animal pictures, Vivaldi, and the PPK.

I will go on a yoga obsession, sounds like a good plan. And add a green smoothie one to it, since I have a shiny new blender.

Much to my surprise I think I am going to be obsessed with Zumba! I went to a free class with my sister in law and it was so. freaking. fun. I can't think of any other way I would ever work that hard for a whole hour.

I'll carry on with my obsession with rock climbing, adventure, and travel. I'm planning so much fun for this year that involves one or both of those things, it's ridic! And I've only planned through the end of March so far... 9 more months to figure out awesomeness for!

Here's what I've read in the last year: Dark Summit: The True Story of Everest's Most Controversial Season -- Nick Heil High Crimes: the Fate of Everest in an Age of Greed -- Michael Kodas The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest -- Anatoli Boukreev Left for Dead: My Journey Home from Everest -- Beck Weathers High Exposure: An Enduring Passion for Everest and Unforgiving Places -- David Breashears No Shortcuts to the Top (not Everest-specific) -- Ed Viesturs Mountain Madness -- Robert Birkby Reading now: The Other Side of Everest: Climbing the North Face Through the Killer Storm-- Matt Dickinson Have read Into Thin Air. When reading The Climb there were references to the illustrated version of ITA; I was thinking, wow, I would like to have that. And, apparently I thought that when I bought it as well, as it is on my shelf. I won't even go into my Netflix queue. I guess I will continue with my Everest and other peaks obsession as well as all hikes great and small. (I'm obsessed with PCT books as well.)

I liked High Crimes for its purpose of not glamorizing everest. It was good to read a different perspective. It did feel a bit over the top, though.

I'm pretty obsessed with lesbian histories right now! It started in Taipei when I was there soaking in the T/Po (butch/femme) culture, and reading all about it (in Chinese, yes!). Now I'm reading papers about the evolution of the lesbian scene in the US, and I'm hoping to explore China's and Thailand's too!

Hey mustardseed! I haven't seen you around here in ages! How are you? What are you up to these days besides reading the history of lesbians? I hope life has been treating you well!
